INDIA ELECTED
AS VICE PRESIDENT OF IALA
·
India was elected as the Vice President (VP)
of the International Organization for
Marine Aids to Navigation (IALA) during its 1st General Assembly in Singapore.
·
The 1st General Assembly of IALA, signifies its shift from a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) to an Inter-Governmental Organization (IGO).
·
India is set to host the IALA Council meeting in
December 2025 and the IALA Conference & General Assembly in
September 2027, both in Mumbai.
·
IALA Founded in 1957, IALA (formerly the International Association of Marine
Aids to Navigation and Lighthouse Authorities), was established as an NGO to unite Marine Aids to Navigation authorities,
manufacturers, consultants, and scientific and training organizations from
across the globe.
·
In August 2024, 34 member states ratified IALA’s transformation into an
IGO, strengthening its capacity to regulate and
standardize marine navigation.
·
After becoming an IGO, the name of IALA has been changed to the International Organization for Marine Aids
to Navigation(IALA).
·
Secretary General – Francis Zachariae.

TIME’S WOMEN OF THE
YEAR 2025
·
New York based TIME Magazine’s announced 2025 Women of the Year list,recognizing 13 inspiring women
worldwide for their efforts in shaping a more equal and sustainable future.
·
Purnima Devi Barman, a wildlife biologist and conservationist
from Assam, India, is the only Indian
honoree on the list.
·
She is recognized for her efforts in reviving the endangered greater
adjutant stork (Hargila ,meaning is bone swallower) while
empowering rural women through conservation initiatives.
·
This species was once on the
brink of disappearing, with only 450 birds remaining in the region. However,
due to her relentless efforts, the stork population has now increased to over
1,800.
·
As a result, the
International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) upgraded
its status from “endangered” to “near threatened” in
2023.
·
She founded the Hargila
Army, an all-female conservation group comprising 10,000 women.
·
She is the Director of WiNN (Women in Nature Network)
India , an organization that promotes women-led conservation efforts.
·

PM OF BHUTAN VISIT TO
INDIA

The Prime Minister (PM) of Bhutan His Excellency (HE) Dasho Tshering Tobgay visited
India to participate in the inaugural ‘Leadership Conclave of the School of
Ultimate Leadership (SOUL)’and to deepen the unique and historical
partnership.
·
The two-day SOUL Leadership
Conclave, was a premier platform for leaders across diverse fields, including politics,
sports, arts, media, spirituality, public policy, business, and social sectors,
to share their inspiring journeys and discuss leadership insights.
·

SOIL HEALTH CARDS: SWASTH DHARAA, KHET HARAA COMPLETED
10 YEARS
·
The Soil Health Card (SHC) scheme, launched
by Government of India (GoI) to assist state governments
to issue soil health cards to all farmers in the country, has completed 10 years of
successful implementation.
·
The scheme was formally introduced by Prime Minister (PM)
Narendra Modi on February 19, 2015 at
Suratgarh, Rajasthan.
·
The scheme is promoted by the Department of Agriculture &
Co-operation (DA & C), Ministry of Agriculture
and Farmers’ Welfare (MoA& FW) and implemented
through the Department of Agriculture of all state and Union Territory (UT)
governments.
·
The SHC provides status of
the soil with respect to 12 parameters which
contains.
·
Macronutrients: Nitrogen(N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K),
and Sulphur (S).
·
Micro-nutrients: Zinc (Zn), Iron (Fe), Copper (Cu), Manganese
(Mn), Boron (B).
·
pH (Acidity or Basicity), Electrical Conductivity (EC) and Organic
Carbon (OC).
·
Under this scheme, soil
samples are taken two times in a year, following the
harvesting of Rabi and Kharif crop respectively or when there is no standing
crop in the field.
·
As of February 2025, 24.74 crore SHCs
have been generated and 8,272 soil testing lab have been established across the
country.

INDIA’S NCGG &
SRI LANKA’S SLIDA FINALIZE PLAN TO TRAIN 1,500 CIVIL SERVICE OFFICERS UNDER MOU
·
India’s National Centre for Good Governance (NCGG)
under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances &Pensions (MoPP&P)
and Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration (SLIDA)
finalized the modalities for the implementation of their Memorandum of
Understanding (MoU) to train 1,500 Sri
Lankan civil service officers over five years.
·
The MoU was signed between the two countries during the visit of
President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to India in
December 2024.
·
The NCGG has trained 95 civil
servants from Sri Lanka till date.
·
The first training module
for 40 Sri Lankan officers will take place soon, and
over 200 Sri Lankan police had already received training at NCGG prior to the
signing of the MoU.

INDIA’S FIRST
OPEN-AIR ART WALL MUSEUM
·
Union Minister of State
(MoS) (Independent Charge, IC) Dr.Jitendra Singh , Ministry of Earth Sciences
(MoES) inaugurated India’s first Open-Air Art Wall Museum at
MausamBhawan, New Delhi.
·
This initiative marks the 150th anniversary of
the India Meteorological Department (IMD), New Delhi, honoring
its contributions to weather science.
·
The project, developed by IMD and Delhi
Street Art, has transformed the walls of IMD’s headquarters on
LodhiRoad , New Delhi into a vibrant display.
·
A total of 38
murals showcase key moments in weather forecasting,
meteorological advancements, and their impact on society.
·
Delhi Street Art was founded
by Late YogeshSaini.

1ST ASSEMBLY IN INDIA
TO INTRODUCE TRANSLATION FACILITY
·
The Uttar Pradesh (UP) Assembly
made history by becoming the first legislative body
in India to implement a translation facility.
·
This innovative service will
enable discussions in Awadhi, Braj,
Bhojpuri, Bundelkhand, and English to
improve accessibility and inclusivity in legislative proceedings.

INDIA ASSUMES
CHAIRMANSHIP OF BOBP-IGO
·
India assumed the Chairmanship of the Bay
of Bengal Programme Inter-Governmental Organisation (BOBP-IGO)
from Bangladesh at the 13th
Governing Council Meeting held in Malé, Maldives.
·
The partnerships are
expected to improve the blue economy in the area, balance economic growth with
marine ecological preservation, and reduce poverty.
·
BOBP-IGO Members-India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, and Maldives.

GOI EXTENDS TENURE AS
CEO OF NITI AAYOG
·
The Government of India
(GoI) extended the tenure of B.V.R. Subrahmanyam as
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of National Institution for
Transforming India (NITI Aayog) for one more year,
until February 24, 2026.
·
In February 2023, Subrahmanyam took charge as the 4th CEO of
NITI Aayog for a two-year term, succeeding Parameswaran Iyer, who served as the
3rd CEO of NITI Aayog.
10.
INDIA’S FIRST
BIO-BANK AND ANIMAL MUSEUM
·
Darjeeling (West Bengal, WB) based Padmaja Naidu
Himalayan Zoological Park (PNHZP), popularly known as Darjeeling
Zoo opened India’s first bio-bank (Frozen Zoo) and an animal museum.
·
The bio-bank, established in July 2024, has already collected
Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) and tissue samples from 60 animals across 23
species.
·
The bio-bank gathers and stores cells and
tissue samples from endangered species, along with reproductive cells from deceased
animals, for preservation.
·
All samples are being preserved at a temperature of minus 196 degree
Celcius (°C) in Liquid nitrogen (LN2), ensuring they remain in a cryogenic
state.
·
This process also helps maintain the genetic diversity of species.
·
The samples can be stored in the bio-bank for a minimum of 40 to 45
years.
