1. RASHTRIYA TANSEN SAMMAN
·
The 100th edition of the Tansen Sangeet Samaroh, one
of India’s most celebrated classical music festivals, was held in Gwalior,
Madhya Pradesh (MP).
·
The event honored tabla player Padma Shri Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri with
the ‘Rashtriya Tansen Samman 2023’ and
Indore’s Sanand Nyas Institution with the ‘Raja Mansingh Tomar Samman 2023’.
·
Gwalior is a city recognized as the United Nations
Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) City of
Music.
·
Rashtriya Tansen Samman Established in 1980 by the MP Government, it is the highest national music award in the field
of Indian classical music.
·
The award comprises a cash prize of Rs.5 lakh along
with a citation plaque.
·
Raja Mansingh Tomar Samman recognizes outstanding contributions to Indian classical music, drama, and
cultural events.
·
The award carries a cash prize of Rs 5 lakh along
with a citation plaque.
2. BAHRAIN’S ‘MEDAL OF
EFFICIENCY’ AWARD
·
Dr.Ravi Pillai, a prominent Indian businessman,
founder and the chairman of Dubai based RP Groups of Company, was
awarded Bahrain’s ‘Medal of Efficiency’(First Class) by the King of
Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at a ceremony held in Dubai
·
He was the 1st foreign national to
receive this distinguished honor.
·
He was awarded for his significant
contribuitions in areas such as refinery operations, local community
development and bolstering Bahrain’s global standing.
·
The Medal of Efficiency is Bahrain’s
highest national award, recognizing individuals for their exceptional contributions
to the country’s progress and development.
3. ROYAL HONOR OF BHUTAN
·
Renowned Indian educationist Arun Kapur,
known for establishing schools across
India, Bhutan and Oman has been honored with the ‘Bura Marp’ (red
scarf) and ‘Patang’ (ceremonial sword) by Bhutan’s King Jigme Khesar Namgyel at
the 117th Bhutanese National Day celebrations at Changlimithang stadium in
Thimphu, Bhutan.

This honor is rarely bestowed upon non-Bhutanese residents,
and also grants Kapur the title of ‘Dasho’.
4. SURVEY
VESSEL INS NIRDESHAK COMMISSIONED INTO INDIAN
NAVY
·
The Indian Navy (IN) commissioned the Indian Naval
Ship (INS) Nirdeshak (YARD 3026), the second of four Survey Vessel (large) SVL project
at the Naval Dockyard, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh (AP)
·
The SVL Project includes four ships, Sandhayak, Nirdeshak, Ikshak,
and Sanshodhak.
·
It aims to upgrade the IN’s hydrographic survey fleet by
replacing the older Sandhayak-class ships, which were inducted into IN on 5th
December 2021.
·
The ship will support the SAGAR (Security and Growth for All in the Region) initiative by
facilitating the sharing of maritime data with friendly nations.
5. US TESTED HYPERSONIC
WEAPON ‘DARK EAGLE’
·
The United States (US)
Army, in collaboration with the US Navy,
successfully test-fired its Long-Range
Hypersonic Weapon (LRHW), also known as ‘Dark
Eagle’ at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida,
·
China has earlier deployed its DF-ZF hypersonic glide
vehicle, designed for anti-ship missions and carried by the DF-17 ballistic
missile.
·
Russia has placed its nuclear-capable Avangard hypersonic
glide vehicle into service, launched atop the RS-28 Sarmat Intercontinental
Ballistic Missile(ICBM).
6. ADVANCED WARSHIPS ‘NILGIRI’ AND
‘SURAT’ DELIVERED TO IN
·
Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) delivered
2 advanced warships ‘Nilgiri(YARD 12651)’ and ‘Surat(YARD
12707)’ to the Indian Navy (IN) in Mumbai,
Maharashtra.
·
Nilgiri is the 1st stealth frigate of the
Project 17A class ship and Surat is the 4th stealth destroyer
and final ship of the Project 15B class guided missile destroyer.
7. RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN RETIRES FROM
INTERNATIONAL CRICKET
·
Ravichandran Ashwin, India’s premier off-spinner announced
his retirement from International cricket ending a remarkable 14 year career
at the top level across formats.
·
He is India’s 2nd-highest wicket-taker in
Test cricket with 537 wickets in 106 matches.
·
The announcement was made in the post match press
conference following the third Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy
against Australia.
·
He represented India in 106 Tests, 116 ODIs and 65 T20Is and
picking up 765 wickets across formats.
·
He was only behind Anil Kumble (Indian former cricketer and coach),
who has 619 wickets from 132 matches.
8. HOCKEY WOMEN’S JUNIOR WORLD CUP 2025
TO BE HELD IN CHILE
·
The International Hockey Federation(FIH), headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland,
announced that the 11th edition of the FIH Hockey Women’s
Junior World Cup (WC) 2025 will be held in Santiago, Chile.
·
The upcoming tournament will feature 24 teams competing
for the first time in FIH history.
·
The 10th edition of the FIH Hockey
Women’s Junior World Cup (WC), held in Santiago, Chile in 2023, was won by the
Netherlands.
9. THE BEST FIFA FOOTBALL
AWARDS 2024

The Best FIFA Football
Awards ceremony 2024 was held in Doha,
Qatar
·
Vinicius Junior (Brazil)
won the Best FIFA Men’s Player 2024 Award
·
Aitana Bonmati (Spain)
won the Best FIFA Women’s Player 2024 Award for the second consecutive year.

This year, a new award has
been introduced for Women’s football.

The award has been named after Marta Vieira da Silva, who
has retired from professional football after 20 years of excellent service for

10. U-19 WOMEN’S ASIA
CUP 2024
·
India defeated Bangladesh by 41 runs in
the final to win the 1st edition of Asian Cricket
Council (ACC) Under (U)-19 Women’s T20 Asia
Cup 2024 being held at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia
·
The Indian team was captained
by Niki Prasad while the team of Bangladesh was
captained by Sumaiya Akter.
·
The Indian team won the
tournament title followed by Bangladesh on the 2nd spot
and Nepal on the 3rd position.
·
India’s Gongadi Trisha won
the Player of the Match and Player of the Series and the top scorer in the
tournament with 159 runs in 5 innings.
·
A total of 6 teams participated
– four Asian full members (Bangladesh,
India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka) and with hosts Malaysia and Nepal,
who qualified for the tournament as the winner of the Women’s U-19 Asia
Qualifier 2025.
11. FIDE WORLD U-18 YOUTH
RAPID & BLITZ CHESS TITLES
·
Indian
grandmaster Pranav Venkatesh won gold medals in the
International Chess Federation (FIDE) World Youth Under
(U)-18 Open Rapid and Blitz events held at the Terme Catez Hotel in Brezice,
Slovenia.
·
Russia’s Alexander Khripachenko won
silver with 9 points, while Ukraine’s Roman Pyrih earned
the bronze with 7.5 points.
·
In the Blitz Category,
Pranav scored 19.5 points, finishing at
the top.
·
Russia’s Dmitry Mochalov secured
silver with 15.5 points, while Khripachenko (Russia) won
a bronze medal with 14.5 points.
12. WOMEN’S HOCKEY JUNIOR ASIA CUP 2024
·
India won the 2024 Women’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup
(8th edition) by defeating
China in a penalty shootout in the final, securing the title for the second
consecutive time.
·
The event was held at the Hockey Oman Stadium in Muscat, Oman.
·
The Women’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup (WHJAC), also
known as the Women’s International Under-21 Field Hockey Championship of Asia,
will be organized by the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) once every four
years.
·
The Women Indian team led
by Jyoti Singh
·
This victory also served as a qualifier for the Federation Internationale de Hockey (FIH)
Women’s Hockey Junior World Cup 2025 in Chile, with the top five
teams earning their spots in the upcoming World Cup.
·
Deepika Sehrawat from India, with 12 goals in the
Women’s Hockey Junior Asia Cup 2024, was
the top scorer.
13. FIRST-EVER WORLD ATHLETICS
CONTINENTAL TOUR EVENT
·
The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) confirmed that India
is set to host its first-ever World Athletics Continental Tour, a
bronze level global meet on August 10, 2025 in
Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
·
This will be the first time and most prestigious global
event after India organised the 2004
World Half Marathon Championships in New Delhi
·
World Athletics Championships 2025, to be held from September 13
to 21,2025 in Tokyo, Japan.
·
The World Athletics Continental Tour, established
in 2020, consists
of events at different levels: bronze, silver, and gold.
·
World Athletics (formerly known as the International Association of
Athletics Federations (IAAF)) is the organizer of the event.
14. ADMIRAL’S CUP 24 SAILING REGATTA
·
The “13th edition of the Admiral’s Cup Sailing Regatta” for the year 2024 was
organised by the Indian Navy (IN) featured 53 skilled sailors,
including 14 women, from 25 nations held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala, Kerala
·
The Admiral’s Cup 24 was won by Team Russia
·
Team Italy won second place, while Team
India finished third.
·
The Admiral’s Cup, established in 2010, is an annual event
designed to foster friendship with foreign nations and enhance navy-to-navy cooperation.
15. INDIA TO HOST WORLD BOXING CONGRESS
IN 2025
·
The Boxing Federation of India (BFI) headquartered
in New Delhi, has announced that India will host the World
Boxing Cup Final 2025 and the 3rd edition of World Boxing
Congress in November 2025 in New Delhi.
·
The 2025 World Boxing Cup series will begin in Brazil in
March 2025, followed by events in Germany and Kazakhstan,
culminating with the finale in New Delhi
·
The second World
Boxing Congress was held on 3rd November 2024 in Colorado Springs, United
States of America.
·
World Boxing (WB), based in Switzerland and established
in April 2023, now has 60 member nations.
·
The BFI became a member of WB in March 2024.
