INDIA’S 56TH TIGER RESERVE
·
Guru Ghasidas-Tamor Pingla Tiger Reserve in Chhattisgarh as the 56th Tiger Reserve in India.
·
It the third-largest tiger reserve in
India after Nagarjunasagar-Srisailam Tiger Reserve in Andhra Pradesh and Manas Tiger Reserve in Assam.
·
It is Located in the Chota Nagpur Plateau and partly in
the Baghelkhand Plateau.

27TH ENERGY TECHNOLOGY SUMMIT
·
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri,
Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas(MoPNG) launched the 27th Energy
Technology Meet (ETM 2024) which was held in Bengaluru,
Karnataka.
·
The three-day Energy Technology Meet has
been organized by the Centre for High Technology (CHT) and Indian
Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).
·
The event was focusing on the theme – Green Energy Horizons: Advancing
Sustainable Refining and Petrochemicals.
·
Ranks second globally
in biofuel blending thus having a lead in sustainable fuel practices.
·
Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) were
awarded with the special award for Innovation by the
Centre for High Technology, MoPNG.

BEST TOURISM VILLAGES FOR 2024
·
United Nations (UN) World
Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) announced the names
of 55 villages including Caviahue-Copahue
(Argentina), Sibayo (Peru), Xito (China), Tra Que Vegetable Village
(Vietnam), among others were recognised as Best Tourism Villages
for 2024.
·
Among
55 Best Tourism Villages for 2024, 7 villages were
selected from the BTV Upgrade Programme including: Ruboni (Uganda), Bo Suak
(Thailand), among others.
·
Also, 20 villages
were selected to participate in the Upgrade Programme for year 2024
including Dhudmaras village located in Bastar district of Chhattisgarh, the only
Indian village featured on the list.

NEPAL POWERS UP BANGLADESH
·
Nepal initiated it’s first-ever
electricity with an export of up to 40 MW hydropower to
Bangladesh, utilizing India’s electricity grid.

This initiative aims to boost up sub-regional connectivity in the power
sector among three countries.

2024 G20 SUMMIT
·
The 2024 G20 Summit, hosted in Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil, prioritized
addressing global issues like hunger, poverty, inequality, climate change, and
the need for governance reforms.
·
The Rio de Janeiro Declaration, released at the G20 Leaders’ Summit
in Rio de Janeiro emphasizes several core commitments, including the taxation of billionaires, energy transition,
and support for global climate initiatives like COP30 in Brasil.
·
Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula
da Silva officially launched the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty. Its Goal is to Eradicate
hunger and poverty globally by 2030
·
Its Founding Members are 148 members:
82 countries, African Union, European Union, 24 international organizations, 9
financial institutions, and 31 NGOs
·
Creation of the G20 Social Summit: A platform dedicated to social
issues, aimed at fostering cooperation among member nations.
·
Inclusion of SDG 18: A newly introduced Sustainable
Development Goal focusing on ethnic-racial equality.
·
Women’s Empowerment Working Group: Establishment of a dedicated group
to advance gender equality and women’s rights.
·

·
South Africa will host the next G20 Summit in 2025. Brazil officially transferred the Group of 20 (G20)
Presidency to South Africa
·
South
Africa becomes the first African country
to preside over the G20, with an agenda focusing on theme solidarity, equality, and sustainability.
6.
TRI-SERVICES MILITARY EXERCISE ‘POORVI PRAHAR’
·
The Indian Army is
conducting a high-intensity tri-services exercise Poorvi
Prahar fin the forward areas of Arunachal Pradesh.
·
The
exercise will act as a platform to show various sophisticated platforms
and assets from all three services, including fighter and reconnaissance
aircraft, strategic helicopters like the Chinook and Advanced Light Helicopter
(Rudra), and M777 Ultra-Light Howitzer Artillery
Systems.
7.
INDIA & JAPAN TO STEALTH UNICORN MAST FOR NAVY WARSHIPS
·
The Government of India (GoI) and
the Government of Japan signed a Memorandum of
Implementation (MoI) for the co-development of Unified Complex Radio Antenna (UNICORN)
mast for fitment on board Ships of
the Indian Navy (IN) under India-Japan Defence Technology Cooperation (IJDTC) .
·
The initiative aims to enhance the stealth
and technological capabilities of the Indian Navy and was India’s
first military technology transfer pact with Japan.
·
The UNICORN mast
(single piece) is an integrated conical structure housing antennas atop
warships, designed to enhance stealth capabilities, and will be fitted on
Indian Naval warships.

JADAV PAYENG INTERNATIONAL AWARD
·
Telangana-based environmentalist M Karunakar Reddy has
been selected to be awarded with the first Jadav Payeng International
Award, launched by the Jyoti-Protap Education Trust in
Jorhat district, Assam.
·
M Karunakar Reddy is known as
the Water Man and Green Man of India will
be awarded for his extraordinary efforts towards conserving environment and
climate action.
·
He is also known as the Crisis
Man of India for his efforts to provide disaster relief and
management in some of the disaster-prone areas affected by climate change.
·
The
Jadav Payeng International Award consists of a cash prize of Rs 2
lakh, a citation, and various other mementos.
·
The award is named after Padma Shri awardee Jadav Payeng, who
is also known as the “Forest Man of India” for his continuous
efforts in developing a 550-hectare forest in Assam’s Jorhat district.

WBF’S SUPER FEATHERWEIGHT WORLD TITLE
·
Indian
professional boxer MandeepJangra (31) won
the World Boxing Federation(WBF)’s super featherweight world title after
defeating Britain’s Conor McIntosh
in the Cayman Islands.
·
MandeepJangra, hailing from Haryana, made
his professional boxing debut in 2021.
10. DOMINICA HIGHEST NATIONAL HONOUR TO PM MODI
·
The Commonwealth of Dominica has announced that it will award
Prime Minister Narendra Modi its highest
national honour, the Dominica Award of Honour, in recognition of his
significant contributions to the island nation, particularly during the
COVID-19 pandemic.
·
This
prestigious award is presented to the Indian Prime Minister by Sylvanie Burton, the President of the
Commonwealth of Dominica, during the upcoming India-CARICOM Summit in Georgetown, Guyana.
