1. 2025 NATIONAL ANUBHAV AWARDS
·
The National Anubhav Awards Scheme
recognizes the contributions of retiring
and retired government employees by encouraging them to share their valuable experiences
and insights.
·
Employees
of the Central Government and pensioners can submit their stories until 31 March 2025.
·
The initiative is spearheaded by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare
(DoPPW), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions,
Government of India.
·
The
platform ‘Anubhav’ allows retiring/retired government employees to share their
experiences and significant achievements made
during their service period.
·
The platform contributes to the creation of institutional memory by
preserving replicable ideas and suggestions, which can help in future
governance challenges.
·
Since inception, 59 Anubhav Awards and 19 Jury Certificates have been awarded.
·
To motivate more people to participate, an Annual Awards Scheme was launched in
2015.

EIGHT
PRODUCTS FROM ASSAM’S
BODO TRIBE RECEIVED GI TAG
·
The Geographical
Indications (GI) Registry (Chennai, Tamil Nadu-TN) under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal
Trade(DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce & Industry (MoCI) has granted the GI tag
to 8 products from the Assam.
·
The 8 new GI products –
JouGwran; MaibraJouBidwi; JouGishi; Napham – Fermented Fish; Ondla / Onla;
Gwkha – Gwkhwi; Narzi; and Aronai.
·
This
include traditional food items and unique varieties of rice beer reflecting the
practices of the Bodo Tribe of Assam.

FCI LAUNCHES ANNA DARPAN
·
The Food Corporation of India
(FCI) under the Department of Food &
Public Distribution, Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public
Distribution, has launched a
comprehensive digital transformation initiative to modernize its existing
supply chain management system ‘Depot Online System’, with
the implementation of a new, microservices-based integrated supply chain
management system named ‘Anna Darpan’.
·
The system is being developed to
streamline and improve supply chain operations and services at all levels,
including Mandis, Mills, Depots (both owned and hired), divisional, regional,
zonal, and headquarters operations.
·
M/s Coforge Limited has been selected as
the System Integrator (SI) by FCI.

10 YEARS
OF SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAN
·
Prime
Minister (PM) Narendra Modi participated in the Swachh Bharat Diwas
program held at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi, Delhi on the occasion of 155th birth
anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
·
During
the event, PM Modi launched and laid the foundation stone for several projects
related to sanitation and cleanliness, worth more than Rs 9,600 crore.

MOH&FW
INCREASES MONTHLY NUTRITION SUPPORT FOR TB PATIENTS TO RS 1000
·
Union
Minister Jagat Prakash (JP) Nadda, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
(MoH&FW) announced significant enhancements to nutritional support
for Tuberculosis (TB).
·
The Ni-KshayPoshanYojana (NPY)
has increased monthly nutritional support from
Rs. 500 per month/patient to Rs. 1,000/month/patient for TB patients
throughout their treatment.
·
There
will be introduction of Energy Dense Nutritional Supplementation (EDNS)
for all patients with a Body Mass Index (BMI) below 18.5 kilogram per meter
square (kg/m^2) at the time of diagnosis.

INDIA’S BECOMES MEMBER OF INTERNATIONAL MEDICAL DEVICE
REGULATORS FORUM
·
India has joined the International Medical Device Regulators
Forum (IMDRF) as an affiliate member, as
the Central Drugs Standard Control
Organisation (CDSCO), under the Ministry of Health and
Family Welfare (MoH&FW) has received Affiliate Membership from IMDRF.
·
India’s application for Affiliate
membership was reviewed during the 26th Session of IMDRF held in September 2024
at Seattle, Washington
·
This
membership opens avenues for
collaboration with regulatory authorities worldwide.
·
IMDRF, established in 2011, to accelerate international medical
device regulatory harmonization and convergence.
·
Its members include regulatory authorities from
the USA, Australia, Canada, European Union (EU), Japan, United Kingdom (UK),
Brazil, Russia, China, South Korea, Singapore, and the World Health
Organization (WHO).
·
The
IMDRF Chair and Secretariat rotate on a
yearly basis across Management Committee member jurisdictions.
·
IMDRF Chair and Secretariat for 2024 is the USA.
7. INDIA AND MALDIVES CURRENCY SWAP DEAL
·
India has extended significant financial
aid to the Maldives by signing a $750
million currency swap agreement to ease the country’s foreign exchange
crisis.
·
This includes a $400 million swap and an additional Rs 3,000 crore ($357 million) under the SAARC Currency Swap
Framework, available until 2027.
·
The agreement was sealed during a
meeting between Prime Minister Narendra
Modi and Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu, who is on a five-day visit to India.
·
Both leaders discussed key economic and
security collaborations, adopting a “vision
statement” that reinforces their partnership.
·
The currency swap aims to bolster the
Maldives’ foreign exchange reserves, currently facing significant pressure due
to an external debt of 110% of its GDP,
particularly from Chinese loans.
·
In addition to the currency swap, India had earlier rolled over treasury
bills amounting to $100 million in support of the Maldives’ economic stability.
8. 77TH WHO REGIONAL COMMITTEE FOR
SOUTH-EAST ASIA

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has
commenced its 77th Regional Committee
session for Southeast Asia in New
Delhi, marking a significant gathering of health leaders from across the
region.

This three-day conference, brings
together health ministers and delegates from
eleven member states
·
JP
Nadda, India’s Minister of Health, has been elected as the Chairperson of the 77th
Session, bringing his extensive experience in health policy to guide the
deliberations.
9. SINGAPORE BIDS FAREWELL TO HORSE
RACING AFTER 181 YEARS
·
After 181 years of horse racing,
Singapore hosted its final race day at
the Singapore Turf Club
·
This decision, influenced by the growing
population surpassing six million, marks a significant shift in the
city-state’s approach to land use, prioritizing
housing over recreational activities.
10. PRESIDENT MURMU’S AFRICAN VISIT:

President DroupadiMurmu will visit Algeria,
Mauritania, and Malawi from in October
·
This marks the first-ever visit by an Indian head of state to these three African nations
·
President Murmuwill begin her trip in Algeria, where she will hold bilateral talks
with President AbdelmadjidTebboune
·
The second leg of her visit will take place in Mauritania,
coinciding with the country’s presidency
of the African Union.

11. NEW MEMBERS IN HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
·
The UN
General Assembly (UNGA) has elected 18
new members to the 47-member Human Rights Council for the 2025-2027 term.
·
This decision was made through a secret
ballot held recently, with countries like Benin,
Bolivia, Colombia, Cyprus, Qatar, and Thailand among the newly elected.
·
The newly elected members will begin
their three-year terms on January 1,
2025.
·
The Human
Rights Council, based in Geneva, plays a crucial role in promoting and protecting human rights globally.
·
The Human Rights Council, established in 2006, aims to address
human rights violations and promote fundamental freedoms.
·
The recent elections continue the
practice of rotating membership, with
approximately one-third of the Council’s 47 members changing annually.
12. INDIA JOINS 44TH CODEX NUTRITION
COMMITTEE MEETING

India participated in the 44th session
of the Codex Committee on Nutrition and
Foods for Special Dietary Uses (CCNFSDU)held in Dresden, Germany
·
CCNFSDU
(Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses) is
a unit of the Codex
AlimentariusCommission(CAC), responsible for developing global standards for special dietary foods such as infant formulas, dietary supplements, and
medical foods.
·
The
CAC, established in 1963 by the Food and
Agriculture Organization(FAO) and World Health Organization(WHO),sets
international food standards to protect consumer health and ensure fair
trade practices, with input from its 189
Codex Members(including India).
13. GLOBAL GNI RANKINGS HIGH INCOME
COUNTRIES 2024

Gross National Income (GNI) per capita
is a key measure of a country’s average
income per person, reflecting the overall wealth of its residents.

It includes the total income earned by a country’s people, both domestically and
abroad.

his includes the value of everything produced within the country (GDP),
plus any money earned by residents working or investing abroad, and minus any money earned by foreigners
working in the country.

It shows the overall income of a country’s residents.
·
Bermuda,
with the gross national income of $125,210 per capita,
stands as the high income country in
terms of global GNI rankings, followed
by Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

15. 38TH NATIONAL GAMES IN UTTARAKHAND
·
The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has
chosen Uttarakhand as the host for the 38th Summer National Games, scheduled to
take place from 28th January to 14th
February 2025.
·
This announcement marks a significant
achievement for the state, as it will be hosting the prestigious event for the
first time, followed by the upcoming
Winter Games, which will be held outside Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh for
the first time.
·
Originally
known as the All-India Olympic Games, the first edition was
held in 1924 in Lahore (now in
Pakistan).
·
The name was officially changed to the National Games during the 9th edition in
Bombay (now Mumbai) in 1940.
