General of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB).

is responsible for guarding India’s
borders with Nepal and Bhutan.
3. MISS INDIA WORLDWIDE 2024
·
Dhruvi Patel, a Computer Information System student from the USA, has been declared the winner of Miss India Worldwide 2024, the longest
running Indian pageant outside of India.
·
Miss India Worldwide is a beauty
pageant which draws contestants from India and from among members of the Indian
diaspora residing in other countries.
·
It is conducted by India Festival Committee (IFC), first founded and
headed by Dharmatma Saran in New York City, USA.
4. NCB DIRECTOR GENERAL

Anurag Garg, IPS officer from
the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has been appointed as
the Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB)
·
The NCB is a
central law enforcement and intelligence agency under the Ministry of Home
Affairs, Government of India, and serves as the federal anti-narcotics agency
with offices across India.
5. NATIONAL ICON FOR PWD

Indian
para-archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar of
the Union Territory (UT) of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), have been named the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) National
Icons for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) for voter awareness

MOSPI DISSOLVED 14-MEMBER STANDING COMMITTEE ON STATISTICS
·
The Ministry of Statistics and Programme
Implementation (MoSPI) has dissolved the 14-member Standing
Committee on Statistics (SCoS), led by former chief
statistician Pronab Sen after the committee
members questioned the delay in
conducting the decennial Census.
·
The
SCoS’ roles and responsibilities reportedly overlapped with the newly formed
Steering Committee for the National Sample Surveys (NSS) as
outlined in the respective Terms of Reference (ToR).
·
The MoSPI
constituted a Steering Committee for the
NSS based on a recommendation from the National Statistical Commission
(NSC).
·
The new committee is chaired by Rajeeva Laxman Karandikar,
Chairman of the NSC, and includes at least 4 members from the dissolved SCoS.
·
India’s decennial census has been conducted every 10 years.
·
The last decennial population Census of India was conducted from 9th–28th February 2011 with a
revisional round from 1st -5th March 2011.

PM NARENDRA MODI INAUGURATES 2ND ICGH-2024

of the International Conference on Green
Hydrogen (ICGH-2024) in New Delhi
·
The GoI
launched the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM) in 2023 to
make India a global hub for the production, use, and export of GH and its
derivatives.
·
India
has declared the goal to achieve Net
Zero Emissions (NZEs) by 2070

NEW BORN CALF ‘DEEPJYOTI’ AT PM
RESIDENCE

Prime
Minister Narendra Modi introduced a newborn calf, ‘Deepjyoti’, born at his
official residence at Lok Kalyan Marg, New Delhi.
·
Sharing
a video on X, PM Modi revealed that the calf, with a unique light-like mark on its forehead, inspired the name
‘Deepjyoti’, which translates to ‘light of the lamp’.

‘ONE NATION, ONE POLL’

The much-anticipated ‘One Nation, One Poll’ policy, enabling simultaneous elections across
India, received approval from cabinet
·
A group will be formed to implement the
recommendations of the Ram Nath Kovind
panel regarding ‘One Nation, One Poll’.

PRESIDENT OF IAEA’S 68TH GENERAL CONFERENCE
·
Sang Wook Ham, South Korea’s ambassador to Austria,
has been elected as the President of the 68th
General Conference of the International
Atomic Energy Agency(IAEA), an international organisation
within the United Nations (UN).
·
He will hold the office during the IAEA
conference, held in September 2024 at the Vienna
International Centre (VIC) in Vienna, Austria.
·
The
General Conference elects a president at
the beginning of each annual session, after consultations among member
states prior to the event.
·
They
hold office for the duration of the
conference.
12. JORDAN RECEIVE WHO
VERIFICATION FOR ELIMINATING LEPROSY

The World Health
Organization (WHO) has officially recognized Jordan as the first country globally to eliminate leprosy
·
Leprosy, or Hansen’s
disease, is a chronic infectious condition caused by Mycobacterium
leprae, affecting skin, nerves, and mucosal surfaces

recognized as the most photogenic UNESCO

14. FLIGHT TEST OF VL-SR SAM
·
The
Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian
Navy (IN) successfully conducted the 2nd consecutive flight
test of the Vertical Launch
Short Range Surface to Air Missile (VLSRSAM), a ship-borne weapon
system from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) in Chandipur, off the
coast of Odisha.
·
Developed
by DRDO, VLSRSAM intercepted a high-speed aerial target at a
very low altitude, simulating a sea-skimming threat, showcasing its precision
and capability.
·
VLSRSAM
Weighing around 170 kg,
it uses solid propellant and can reach speeds of Mach 4.5, with an
altitude capability of 16 km.
·
The
system is designed to neutralize close-range airborne threats, including
aircraft, helicopters, drones, and missiles.
·
DRDO is the Research and Development
(R&D) wing of the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

15. KALVARI SUBMARINE ESCAPE
TRAINING FACILITY- ‘VINETRA’
·

It
is designed to enhance the crew’s escape
capabilities from distressed Kalvari-class submarines.
·
The
facility “Vinetra” (विनेत्र), meaning “Trainer”
represents a significant step forward in building confidence among submariner,
·
Kalvari-class submarines are
diesel-electric attack submarines built under Project 75 by Mumbai, Maharashtra based Mazagon Dock
Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in collaboration with French firm Naval
Group.
·
INS Kalvari,
commissioned in 2017, was the first of the class, followed by other submarines
like INS Khanderi, INS Karanj, INS Vela, INS Vagir, and INS Vagsheer.
