1.       INTERNATIONAL RED PANDA DAY 2024 – SEPTEMBER 21

·         International Red Panda Day (IRPD) is annually observed across the globe on the 3rd Saturday of September to raise awareness about the significance of the Red Panda, the 1st Panda, and the only endangered Panda.

·         The International Red Panda Day (IRPD) was launched in 2010 by the Red Panda Network (RPN), a non-profit organization, and the world leader in efforts to save red pandas and their habitat.

 

2.       WORLD RIVERS DAY 2024 – SEPTEMBER 22

·         World Rivers Day (WRD) is annually observed across the globe on the 4th Sunday of September to raise awareness about the importance of rivers, encourage the improved protection of all rivers worldwide, and promote their conservation and sustainable management.

·         In 2005, the United Nations (UN) launched the International Decade for Action, ‘Water for Life’ (2005-2015), to raise awareness about the need to better care for our water resources.

 


3.       WORLD RHINO DAY 2024 – SEPTEMBER 22

·         World Rhino Day is annually observed across the globe on 22 September to raise awareness about the Rhinoceros or Rhino (Rhinocerotidae), one of the oldest groups of mammals, and the urgent need for their conservation.

·         The day is observed to spread awareness for all 5 species of rhinos namely, the Black rhino, and White rhinos in Africa, and the greater one-horned, Sumatran, and Javan rhinos in Asia.

 

4.       INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SIGN LANGUAGES 2024 – SEPTEMBER 23 

·         The United Nations (UN’sInternational Day of Sign Languages (IDSL) is annually observed across the globe on 23 September to support and protect the linguistic identity and cultural diversity of all deaf people and other sign language users worldwide.

·         The 2024 theme of IDSL is, “Sign up for Sign Language Rights

 

5.       NSS DAY 2024 – SEPTEMBER 24

·         The National Service Scheme (NSSDay is annually observed across India on 24 September to commemorate the establishment of NSS, a permanent youth Program under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS).

·         24 September marks the foundation day of NSS in 1969.

·         NSS is a public service programme conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports(MYAS).
NSS was formally launched by the then Union Minister Dr.Vijayendra Kasturi Ranga Varadaraja Rao, Ministry of Education (MoE) on 24 September 1969, in 37 Universities covering all the states.

·         The year 1969 commemorated the birth Centenary year of Mahatma Gandhiji, the Father of the Nation, who was born in 1869.

·         The idea of the NSS was proposed by Major General Jagannath Rao Bhonsle.

·         The Motto of NSS is “Not Me But You”, reflecting the essence of democratic living and upholding the need for selfless service.

·         The NSS symbol is inspired by the ‘Rath’ wheel of the Konark Sun Temple (The Black Pagoda) in Odisha.

·         The 8 bars bars in the wheel symbolizing the 24 hours of the day, reminding volunteers to serve the nation round the clock.

·         This giant wheel of the Sun Temple signifies the continuous cycle of creation, preservation, and release, symbolizing life’s movement across time and space.

·         The Red and  Blue colors in the logo motivate the NSS Volunteers to be active & energetic for the nation-building social activities.

 

6.       ANTYODAYA DIWAS DAY 2024 – SEPTEMBER 25

·         Antyodaya Diwas Day is annually observed across India on 25 September to commemorate the birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, a prominent Indian political leader, philosopher, and the former President of the political party Bharatiya Jan Sangh (BJS), the predecessor party of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

·         The day emphasises Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya’s concept of “Antyodaya“, meaning the rise and development of the last person in society.

 

7.       WORLD PHARMACIST DAY -25 SEPTEMBER

·         World Pharmacist Day is observed annually on September 25th. In 2024, this significant day falls on a Wednesday, providing an opportunity for global recognition of pharmacists’ contributions to healthcare.

·         While the specific theme for 2024 has not been announced yet, previous themes have focused on various aspects of pharmacy practice, such as “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world” (2022) and “Pharmacy: Always trusted for your health” (2021).

 

8.       WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH DAY -26 SEPTEMBER

·         Every year on September 26, the world comes together to observe World Environmental Health Day.

·         The theme for World Environmental Health Day 2024 is “Environmental Health: Creating Resilient Communities through Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation”

 

9.       WORLD MARITIME DAY -26 SEPTEMBER

·         World Maritime Day 2024, celebrated on 26 September 2024,

·         Theme Navigating the Future: Safety First!”

 

10.    WORLD TOURISM DAY 2024 - 27 SEPTEMBER

·         To celebrate and recognize the importance of tourism, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) established World Tourism Day as a global observance.

·         The UNWTO established World Tourism Day in 1980

·         The date, September 27, was chosen to commemorate the adoption of the UNWTO Statutes on September 27, 1970.

·         Theme for 2024-“Tourism and Peace”

·         On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Ministry of Tourism launched “Paryatan Mitra” and “Paryatan Didi,” a responsible tourism initiative aimed at improving tourist experiences across India.

 

11.    WORLD RABIES DAY -28 SEPTEMBER

·         World Rabies Day, observed annually on September 28th, marks a global effort to raise awareness about rabies prevention and eradication.

·         Theme: “Breaking Rabies Boundaries”

·         The theme aligns with the “Zero by 30: Global Strategic Plan” which aims to eliminate dog-mediated human rabies deaths by 2030.

 

12.    BOOK ‘PARIDHI 24×25’

·         Union Minister of Textiles, Shri Giriraj Singh, launched the India-specific fashion trend book “Paridhi 24×25,” a bilingual web portal of VisioNxt, and an AI Taxonomy e-book.
