ATISHI SWORN-IN AS 8TH CM OF DELHI
·
Atishi Marlena Singh, a senior leader of
the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) took oath as the 8th Chief
Minister (CM) of the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi.
·
She was appointed by the President
Droupadi Murmu under the Article 239.
·
Lieutenant-Governor (LG) Vinai Kumar Saxena administered
the oath of office and secrecy to Atishi at a ceremony held at Raj Niwas in New
Delhi(Delhi).
·
Atishi
is the 3rd woman CM of Delhi after Sheila Dikshit (1998 to 2013) of the
Indian National Congress (INC) and Sushma
Swaraj (1998) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

9TH PRESIDENT OF SRI LANKA
·
Anura Kumara Dissanayake (55
year old), Leader of Marxist-Leninist party – Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP)
·
Sworn-in as 9th President
of Sri Lanka after winning the 2024 Presidential election.
·
He was sworn in by Chief Justice of Sri Lanka, Jayantha Jayasuriya at
the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

INDIAN AIR FORCE CHIEF
·
The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has
appointed Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh as
the next Chief of the Air Staff (CAS) in the
Indian Air force (IAF), in the rank of Air Chief Marshal, with effect from
September 30, 2024.
·
He will succeed the incumbent Air
Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari, who retires upon
superannuation.

DIRECTOR OF NCRB & SVPNPA
·
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet
(ACC) approved the appointments of the Senior Indian Police
Service (IPS) officers Alok Ranjan as Director of
the National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB)
·
Amit Garg as Director of
Hyderabad (Telangana)-based Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police
Academy (SVPNPA)
·
SVPNPA was established as
Central Police Training College in Mount Abu (Rajasthan) in 1948.
·
This
institution was renamed as National Police Academy (NPA) in 1967 and was named
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) in 1974.

16TH PM OF SRI LANKA
·
Harini Amarasuriya ,
leader of National People’s Power (NPP),
officially sworn-in as 16th Prime Minister (PM) of
Sri Lanka.
·
She has replaced Dinesh Gunawardene who
resigned from PM office after the result of recently held Sri Lanka
Presidential election.

INDIA BECOMES 6TH LARGEST MARKET IN MSCI ACWI
·
India has become the 6th largest
market in the Morgan Stanley Capital
International (MSCI) All Country World Investable Market Index (ACWI
IMI), surpassing China and
just marginally behind France.
·
Also, for the 1st time, India has surpassed China to become the largest
weighting in the MSCI Emerging Market Investable Market Index (EM
IMI).
·
The combined weight of India’s domestic
stocks, as part of the MSCI EM IMI Index stood at 22.7% compared
to 21.58% of China.
·

AYUSHMAN BHARAT PM-JAY COMPLETES 6 YEARS
·
Ayushman
Bharat Pradhan Mantri- Jan Arogya Yojana (AB
PM-JAY), one of the key components of Ayushman Bharat (AB), a
flagship scheme of Government of India (GoI), which emerged from the National Health Policy 2017, has
completed 6 years of successful implementation.
·
It was launched on 23rd September, 2018 by Prime Minister (PM)
Narendra Modi in Ranchi, Jharkhand.
·
AB
PM-JAY is the largest health assurance scheme in the world which offers a
cashless health cover of Rs 5 lakh per family per
year for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization across
public and private empanelled hospitals in India.

PERIODIC LABOUR FORCE SURVEY-NSSO
·
According to the 7th Annual report “Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) July 2023- June 2024)” of National Sample Survey Office (NSSO), Ministry of
Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Lakshadweep has
the highest Unemployment Rate (UR) among
youths (aged 15-29 ).

Youth
UR in Lakshadweep stands at 36.2% which includes 79.7% UR
among among young women and 26.2% UR among young men.
·
Lakshadweep is followed by Andaman and
Nicobar Island with 33.6% (49.5% women and 24% men) and Kerala with
29.9% (47.1% women and 19.3% men).
·
The national average for
youth unemployment is 10.2%, with females facing a higher
rate of 11% compared to 9.8% for males.
·
Madhya
Pradesh (MP) has the lowest unemployment rate of 2.6%, among states in India followed by
Gujarat with 3.1% and Jharkhand with 3.6%.

SHANKH AIR GETS APPROVAL FROM MOCA
·
Shankh Air, owned by Shankh
Aviation Private Limited, has received the No Objection Certificate (NOC)
from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) valid for 3
years.
·
Shankh Air will be the 1st
Schedule airline to launch from Uttar Pradesh(UP).
·
It is yet to receive clearance from the
Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to begin
operations.
·
Shankh
Air will hub over Lucknow and Noida to enable connections to all major cities
in India.
·
India is currently the third-largest
domestic aviation market globally, recording a 15% year-on-year
increase in air passenger traffic. India handles 376 million passengers
in FY24.

FSSAI
AND BRAZIL’S MAPA SIGN MOU
·
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of
India (FSSAI) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry
of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) of Brazil.
·
This collaboration aims to strengthen food
safety measures and promote bilateral cooperation in the sector.
