INDIA’S 1ST SCHOOL OF SUSTAINABILITY
●
Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited (KMBL) and the Indian Institute of
Technology, Kanpur(IIT-K) in Uttar Pradesh(UP), has launched “Kotak School of Sustainability (KSS)”,
India’s first fully integrated school of sustainability, at IIT-K Campus.
●
The total project cost is around Rs 200 crore. Kotak will be
contributing Rs 70 crore in the first phase.

‘GOLDEN OWL’ AWARD AT SRI LANKA’S
DSCSC GRADUATION
●
All 3 Indian Armed Forces
officers, who underwent the Command & Staff course No 17 at the Defense
Services Command & Staff College (DSCSC) in Sapugaskanda, Sri Lanka, were
honoured with the “Golden Owl” for
outstanding performance.
●
The 3 Indian Officers were: Major
Rohit from the Indian Army.
●
Lieutenant Commander Sunnay Sharma from the Indian Navy
●
Wing Commander S Mahajan from the Indian Air Force
●
Indian Navy’s Sunnay Sharma also received the ‘Commandant’s
Honours’ during the ceremony.
●
The “Golden Owl” award
serves as a testament to the officers’ exceptional analytical skills, strategic
thinking, and potential for future leadership.

14TH CM OF RAJASTHAN
●
Bhajan Lal Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP), a 1st-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) elected from the Sanganer
Constituency, sworn in as the 14th Chief
Minister (CM) of Rajasthan.
●
Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra administered oath of office and
secrecy to Bhajan Lal Sharma in the event held in Jaipur, Rajasthan.

HIGH-SPEED FLYING-WING UAV TESTED
●
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has
successfully carried out a flight trial of an indigenous high-speed tailless
flying-wing stealth Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) from the Aeronautical Test
Range, Chitradurga, Karnataka.
●
The FWTD has been developed for India’s secret unmanned combat
aerial vehicle (UCAV) programme called ‘Ghatak’.
●
The UAV is called as Autonomous Flying Wing Technology
Demonstrator (FWTD)
●

WORLD’S DEEPEST PHYSICS LABORATORY
●
China has commenced the operation of a 2,400-metre (7,874 feet)
deep physics laboratory, Deep Underground and Ultra-low Radiation Background
Facility for Frontier Physics Experiments (DURF) in Sichuan Province of the
People’s Republic of China (PRC).
●
DURF has become the deepest
and largest underground lab in the world.
●
DURF is located beneath Jinping Mountain in Sichuan’s Liangshan Yi
Autonomous Prefecture.

Vijay Diwas, or Victory Day(Bijoy
Dibos), is
annually observed across India and Bangladesh on 16 December to celebrate the
historic victory of Indian armed forces against Pakistan in the 1971 Indo-Pak
war (India – Pakistan War of 1971).
●
The Day commemorates the formal surrender of the Pakistani Armed
Forces to the joint Indian and Mukti Bahini (Bangladeshi liberation forces) in
Dhaka (now Bangladesh) during the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
●
1971 Indo-Pak War: was a 13-day military confrontation
between India and Pakistan that occurred during the Bangladesh Liberation War
in East Pakistan from 3 to 16 December 1971.
●
The war concluded with the Instrument of Surrender signed by the
Eastern Command of the Pakistan military on December 16, 1971, in Dhaka.

UAE HOSTED THE 28TH UNFCCC COP
●
The 28th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework
Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC)(COP 28) was held in Expo City, Dubai, The
United Arab Emirates(UAE).
●
Narendra Modi, Prime
Minister (PM) of India, attended the COP 28 Presidency’s session on “Transforming Climate Finance” in
Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
●
Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency(IREDA), a Mini Ratna Category I Public Sector Undertaking(PSU)
under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy(MNRE) has launched its retail
division.
●
Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure(CDRI) has launched
a data platform named-“Global
Infrastructure Risk Model and Resilience Index(GIRI)” on the sidelines of
the COP28 summit.
8.
LIC NOTIFIES HIKE IN GRATUITY LIMIT
TO RS 5 LAKH
●
Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has increased the gratuity limit to Rs 5 lakh from Rs 3 lakh
with an aim to improve the working conditions and benefits of the agents.
●
In September 2023, the Ministry of Finance(MoF) approved a series
of welfare measures related to the amendments of LIC (Agents) Regulations,
2017.

MAHARASHTRA BECOMES LARGEST ECONOMY
IN INDIA
●
According to a online blogging platform soic.in, Maharashtra has emerged as the largest
economy of India. It has largest share of 15.7% in India’s Gross Domestic
Product (GDP).
●
It is followed by Uttar Pradesh (UP) with 9.2% share in India’s
GDP, and Tamil Nadu (TN) with 9.1%.

EXERCISE ASTRASHAKTI 2023
●
Exercise Astrashakti-2023, took place at the Air Force Station
Suryalanka in Andhra Pradesh (AP).
●
During this the Indian Air Force (IAF) showcased the abilities of Akash weapon system (AWS), and also successfully test fired Surface to Air Missile for Assured
Retaliation (SAMAR) air defence missile system.

VIJAY HAZARE TROPHY 2023–24
●
The Haryana men’s cricket
team captained by Ashok Menaria won the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2023-24 by defeating the Rajasthan men’s
cricket team led by Deepak Hooda in the finals held in the Saurashtra Cricket
Association Stadium in Rajkot (Gujarat).
●
Haryana’s Sumit Kumar was awarded Player of the Tournament and
Player of the Match in the finals.
●
The Vijay Hazare Trophy (Ranji One-Day Trophy) is the annual
one-day domestic tournament organised by the Board of Control for Cricket in
India (BCCI), the inaugural season was held in 2002–03.
●
The Vijay Hazare Trophy was named after the legendary Indian
cricketer Vijay Samuel Hazare.
●
Tamil Nadu is the most successful team, having won the trophy five times
(2002–03, 2004–05, 2008–09, 2009–10, 2016–17).
