JAMSHED J IRANI, ‘STEEL MAN
OF INDIA’, PASSES AWAY
·
Padma Bhushan Awardee Jamshed J Irani, who was also
known as the “Steel man of India”, passed away at the age of 86 years at Jamshedpur,
Jharkhand.
·
He was
associated with Tata Steel for over 4 decades and
retired from the board of Tata Steel in June 2011.
·
He was
conferred the Padma Bhushan (2007) for his contribution to the steel industry.
·
He was
also a recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Government of India
(GoI) in 2008 for his services in the area of metallurgy.

MATA AMRITANANDAMAYI
APPOINTED AS CHAIR OF C20
·
The
Government of India(GoI) has
appointed Mata Amritanandamayi Devi (Amma) as the Chair of the country’s Civil
20 (C20), an official engagement group of the Group of 20 (G20).
·
The C20 is G20s platform for civil-society
organisations (CSOs) to bring forth non-government and non-business voices
to the G20 leaders.
·
The G20
is the premier inter-governmental forum for the world’s developed and emerging
economies to address financial stability on a global basis.
·
India will assume the Presidency of the G20
for one year from December 1, 2022 to November 30, 2023.
·
G20
Leaders’ Summit is going
to be held in New Delhi from September 9 to 10, 2023.

DECLARED AS NATIONAL MONUMENT

PM Narendra Modi visited Rajasthan’s Banswara
district, where he attended a public programme ‘MangarhDhamki Gaurav Gatha’ at
Mangarh Hill, Banswara, Rajasthan.
·
During the programme, MangarhDham in the
Banswara District of Rajasthan was declared as a National Monument.

PERFORMANCE GRADING INDEX
FOR STATES/UTS FOR THE YEAR 2020-21
·
The Performance Grading Index
(PGI) for States/Union Territories (UTs) for 2020–21, a special index
for evidence-based comprehensive analysis of the school education system across
States & UTs, was released by the Department of School Education and
Literacy (DoSE&L),
Ministry of Education (MoE).
·
The PGI structure consists of 1000
points over 70 indicators divided into 2 categories:
Outcomes & Governance Management (GM).
·
The highest achievable Grade is Level
1, which is for State/UTs achieving more than 950 points out of a
total of 1000 points.
·
Level 10, which is given for scores below 551, is
the lowest grade.
·
7 states
and union territories have attained Level 2 (score 901-950) in 2020-21. These
are Kerala, Punjab, Chandigarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Andhra
Pradesh.

WTO TO INCREASE PRESENCE AT
COP 27
·

Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Director-General (DG) of the WTO,
will attend world leaders’ summit events.
·
The
WTO’s World Trade Report 2022, titled “Climate
Change and International Trade”, will also be released at COP27.
·
At COP 26
in Glasgow, United Kingdom (UK), India defied pressure from developed nations
to accept a 2050 deadline for reaching “net zero emissions” and instead
extended it by 20 years to 2070.

FLOATING FINANCIAL LITERACY CAMP IN J&K

India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) along with ‘NiveshakDidi’an
initiative to promote financial literacy “By the women, for the women”,
conducted India’s First Floating Financial Literacy Camp in Srinagar,
Jammu & Kashmir (J&K).
·
NiveshakDidi
was launched by IPPB in collaboration with Investor Education and Protection
Fund Authority (IEPFA) under the aegis of Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA)
to promote Financial Literacy.
·
IPPB
has been established under the Department of Posts, under the Ministry of
Communication and 100 percent owned by the Government of India (GoI).

French order of merit with membership awarded by the President of the French

CONDUCTS FLIGHT-TEST OF BALLISTIC MISSILE DEFENCE INTERCEPTOR
·
Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) conducted a successful
maiden flight-test of the phase-II
Ballistic Missile Defence(BMD) interceptor AD-1 missile from
APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.
·
The AD-1 is a long-range
interceptor missile designed for both low exo-atmospheric and
endo-atmospheric interception of long-range ballistic missiles and aircraft.

13. INDIAN
ARMY REGISTERS IPR FOR CAMOUFLAGE PATTERN UNIFORM
·
According to the Ministry of Defence (MOD),
the Indian Army has registered the “Intellectual
Property Rights” (IPR) of the new Camouflage Pattern
and Design of the Improved Combat Uniform.
·
The new
Indian Army combat uniform features a “unique digital disruptive pattern” and
was unveiled on Army Day i.e., January 15, 2022.
·
The
Indian Army can take civil legal action before a competent court of law to
enforce its exclusive rights to the design and file infringement
lawsuits.

COVERAGE CHART: DELHI TOPS

EPFO
coverage is at its lowest in Tripura(2.1%), Assam(2.8%), and Meghalaya(2.8%).

Delhi is
followed by Goa at 2nd spot with 51.4% and Haryana at 3rd spot with 35.3%.

The % of
EPFO coverage of the working population for 15 out of 26 states and Union
Territories is below the national average of 13.5%.

of the absolute number of working-age population covered by EPFO, Maharashtra
