India, Vietnam Bilateral Army Exercise
‘VINBAX 2022‘

The 3rd edition of
Vietnam-India bilateral army exercise ‘Ex
VINBAX 2022‘ is scheduled to be conducted at Chandimandir in
Haryana from August 1-20, 2022
·
The theme
of Ex VINBAX – 2022 is employment and deployment of an Engineer Company
and a Medical Team as part of United Nations Contingent for Peace Keeping
Operations.
·
There will be field training
exercise which will enhance mutual confidence, inter-operability and enable
sharing of best practices between both the armies.
·
The troops of both the
Contingents will learn about the social and cultural heritage of each other.
·
Vietnam is the 15th largest trade partner of
India and India is its 10th largest partner with bilateral trade standing at
USD 11.12 billion in 2020-21.
2. Tata Steel to roll out ‘First in India’ seating
system for Vande Bharat Express trains
·
Tata Steel is set to
manufacture ‘First-in-India’
180-degree rotating seats for the Vande Bharat express
trains.
·
Vande Bharat Express, also
known as Train 18, is the second fastest train in India which is operated by
the Indian Railways only on two prominent routes as of March 2022, one from New
Delhi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and the other from New Delhi to Varanasi,
operates at a speed of 130 km/hr.

Indian
& French Navies Conduct Maritime Partnership Exercise

The Indian
and French Navies conducted a Maritime Partnership Exercise
(MPX) in the North Atlantic Ocean.
·
The replenishment at sea was
exercised between the Indian Navy Ship (INS) Tarkash and the
French Fleet Tanker French Navy Ship (FNS) Somme.
·
Three biennial training
exercises conducted between India & France-

Exercise Garuda
with the Indian Air Force,
·
Exercise Varuna
with the Indian Navy
·
Exercise Shakti
with the Indian Army.

UNAIDS Global AIDS Update 2022
·
According to the ‘UNAIDS Global AIDS Update 2022: In
Danger’, only half (52%) of children living with Human
Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) are on life-saving therapy globally, considerably
behind adults, who receive three quarters (76%) of antiretrovirals.
·
A new ‘Global Alliance for Ending AIDS in
Children by 2030’ was announced at the 24th International AIDS
Conference 2022 taking place in Montreal, Canada.
·
AIDS stands for
Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome.
·
According to the UNICEF, about
2.8 million children and adolescents are currently living with HIV, nearly 88
per cent of them in sub-Saharan Africa.
·
The Joint United Nations
Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS),
United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF),
World Health Organization (WHO),
and partners have joined forces to form the global alliance in order to
guarantee that no child living with HIV is denied treatment by the end of the
decade (2030) and to prevent new infant HIV infections.

The alliance will function for
the next eight years, until 2030, with the goal of
addressing one of the most glaring disparities in AIDS response.
·
12 countries that have joined
the alliance in the first phase:
Angola, Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC),
Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and
Zimbabwe.
5. England wins women’s Euro 2022 championship

England won the 2022 Union of European Football Associations
(UEFA)’s European Women’s Football Championship for the
first time after extra-time in the 2-1 Euro 2022 Final by defeating Germany.
·
The tournament was held at
Wembley Stadium in London, United Kingdom.
6. Astronomy lab in Bihar College Enters
the Unesco Heritage List
·
United Nations Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has added a 106-year-old
astronomical observatory at Langat Singh College in Muzaffarpur, Bihar on
its list of important endangered heritage observatories of the world which is
first of its kind in eastern India.
·
The observatory was built in
1916 in the 123-year old Langat Singh college which is now affiliated to
Bhim Rao Ambedkar Bihar University.
·
In India, a first-of-its-kind
planetarium was also set up in the college in 1946.

7. GoI Formulates NAMASTE Scheme for Cleaning of Sewers,
Septic Tank
·
The Government of India (GoI)
has developed a National
Action Plan for Mechanized Sanitation Ecosystem – NAMASTE scheme to
achieve zero sanitation fatalities in India and to ensure that all sanitation
work is undertaken by skilled workers.
·
The NAMASTE project is a
collaboration between the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment (MoSJE)
and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA).
·
According to the Supreme
Court’s judgement from its ruling in Civil Writ Petition No. 583 of 2003 on
March 27, 2014, the State Governments have been required to compensate the
families of people who have died while cleaning sewers/septic tanks since 1993
with a sum of Rs. 10 lakh each.

INDIA’S
APRIL-JUNE 2022 FISCAL DEFICIT AT RS 3.52 LAKH CR, 21% OF FY23
TARGET

As per the revenue-expenditure
data released by the Controller General of Accounts (CGA), India’s fiscal
deficit for April-June 2022 stood at Rs 3,51,871 crore, which is about 21.2% of
its full financial year target.
·
The Central Government’s
full-year target for fiscal deficit is Rs 16,61,196 crore.
·
The Indian economy is expected
to grow around 7.2%
year-on-year (y-o-y) in FY23, down from earlier estimates
of over 8%, and 8.7% in FY22.
·
In total, the government received
Rs 5,96,040 crore up to June 2022, comprising Rs 5,05,898 crore tax revenue
(net to Centre), Rs 62,160 crore of non-tax revenue and Rs 27,982 crore of
non-debt capital receipts.
·
The total expenditure
incurred by the government is Rs 9,47,911
crore, 24.0% of the corresponding estimate of FY23.
·
India’s fiscal deficit for
FY22 was 6.71% of the GDP (Gross Domestic Product), lower than the 6.9%
projected in the revised estimates.
·
The revenue deficit at the end
of FY22 stood at Rs 10,32,947 crore (4.37%) in absolute terms.
9. AugusteTano Kouame is new World Bank’s Country
Director for India
·
Auguste Tano Kouame, a
national of Côte
d’Ivoire, took charge as the World Bank’s Country Director for
India . He replaces Junaid Kamal Ahmad
·
He has served as the World
Bank’s Country Director for Turkey.
·
As of July 2022, World Bank’s
net commitments to India stood at USD 21.86 billion across 99 project.
10. ISSF World Cup in Changwon, South Korea
·
India won 15 medals, (5
gold, 6 silver and 4 bronze medals) and topped
the medals list in International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup Changwon 2022 Rifle/
Pistol/ Shotgun held at South Korea
·
South Korea concluded the
tournament with 12 medals (4 golds, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals).
·
The 2022 ISSF World Cup is the
annual edition of the ISSF World Cup in the Olympic shooting events, governed
by the ISSF.

The International Cricket
Council (ICC) announced India will
host the 2025 ICC Women’s One Day International (ODI)World Cup
