MULTINATIONAL JOINT EXERCISE ‘EX KHAAN QUEST 2022′
·
Annual Multinational
Peacekeeping Military Exercise ‘Ex Khaan
Quest (KQ) 2022’ has commenced which is hosting by Mongolia at its
Five Hills Training Area, near Ulaanbaatar.
·
Military contingents
from 16 countries are being participating in this exercise.
·
Indian Army (IA) is
represented by a contingent from the Ladakh Scouts.

ENVIRONMENTAL PERFORMANCE INDEX 2022
·
According to the
biennial Environmental Performance Index (EPI) 2022 released which was
analysed by the researchers at the Earth
Institute of Yale and Columbia University, India has been ranked 180 which is at the bottom
amongst other countries with a total score of 18.9.
·
Denmark tops the
index of emerging as the most sustainable country in the 2022 rankings.
·
India’s neighbouring
nations have shown better rankings including Pakistan which ranked 176 and
Bangladesh ranked 177.

SBI APPOINTS ALOK KUMAR CHOUDHARY AS NEW MD
·
SBI Deputy Managing
Director (DMD) Alok Kumar Choudhary is appointed as Managing Director
(MD) for a period of 2 years
·
He will be handling the
Retail Business & Operations of the lender in SBI.
·
SBI will have 4
MD’s headed by the Chairman.
·
The three other MDs –
CS Setty (MD in charge of retail banking), Swaminathan Janakiraman (MD in
charge of Stressed Assets, Risk and Compliance) and Ashwini Kumar Tiwari (MD in
charge of international banking).

SEBI RESTRUCTURED ITS ADVISORY COMMITTEE ON MUTUAL FUNDS
·
The Securities and
Exchange Board of India(SEBI) has restructured its Advisory Committee on Mutual
Funds which advises the SEBI on issues related to the regulation of mutual
funds for ensuring investor Protection.
·
The 25-member advisory
committee will be chaired by Usha Thorat, former Deputy Governor of the
Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
·
SEBI was constituted as a non-statutory body on 12th April
1988 and later it was established as a statutory body in 1992.

INDIA SUCCESSFULLY TEST FIRES NUCLEAR-CAPABLE IRBM AGNI-IV
·
India successfully
carried out a night launch of the nuclear-capable Agni-4(“Fire”)Intermediate-Range Ballistic Missile (IRBM) from the
APJ Abdul Kalam Island in Odisha
·
It is a two stage
Surface to Surface missile with range of around 3500-4,000 kilometres.
·
It can carry a 1,000-kg
payload and can go as high as 900 km, and is 4th in the Agni series of missiles
which was earlier known as Agni II prime.
·
Agni-1 to 5 missiles
are designed & developed by Defence Research and Development Organisation
(DRDO) and inducted into services to act as deterrence & meet India’s
security requirements.
·
The tri-Service SFC
already has the Prithvi-II (350-km), Agni-I (700-km), Agni-II (2,000-km),
Agni-III (3,000-km) and Agni-IV missile units, while the induction of the
country’s first intercontinental ballistic missile Agni-V (over 5,000-km) is
currently in an advanced stage.

WORLD FOOD SAFETY DAY 2022 – JUNE 7
·
The United
Nations(UN)’s World Food Safety Day is annually observed across the globe on
7th June to create awareness about the importance of improving food safety.
·
The annual observance
of World Food Safety Day is jointly led by the World Health Organization (WHO)
and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
·
The theme of World Food Safety Day 2022 is “Safer food,
better health”.
·
The World Food Safety Day 2022 is observed under the slogan “Food
safety, everyone’s business”.

4TH STATE FOOD SAFETY INDEX 2021-22
·
On the occasion of
World Food Safety Day which was held on the theme ‘Safer food, better health’,
the Union Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya, Ministry of Health and Family
Welfare (MoH&FW) released 4th State Food Safety Index (SFSI) for 2021-2022
by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
·
Among larger states,
Tamil Nadu (TN) was the top ranking state, followed by Gujarat and
Maharashtra.
·
Among the smaller
states, Goa stood first followed by Manipur and Sikkim.
·
Among UTs, Jammu
& Kashmir (J&K), Delhi and Chandigarh secured first, second and
third ranks.
8.
WORLD BANK CUTS INDIA’S GROWTH FORECAST TO 7.5% FOR FY23
·
The World Bank (WB) in
its latest Global Economic Prospects June 2022 Report has reduced its FY23 real
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth forecast for India to 7.5%, from 8%(April
2022,forecast), amid inflationary pressures, supply-chain disruptions, and
geopolitical tensions.
·
India’s Growth is also
expected to slow further to 7.1% in 2023-24.
·
It also lowered its
global growth forecast for calendar year 2022 to 2.9% from 4.1%( January,2022
forecast ).
·
A rise in prices across
all items from fuel to vegetables and cooking oil pushed WPI or Wholesale
Price-Based Inflation to a record high of 15.08% in April 2022 and retail
inflation to a near 8-year high of 7.79%.
India’s growth cut by other Agencies:

RBI - 7.2% for FY23, S&P - 7.3% for FY23,Asian
Development Bank (ADB) - 7.5%,
·
World bank 7.5%
IMF - 8.2,Fitch - 8.5%, for FY23, Moody’s -8.8% for 2022

CHINA’S TIANGONG SPACE STATION- SHENZHOU-14 CREWED MISSION
·
China successfully
launched the 3 astronauts (including 1 woman astronaut) on a 6-month mission to
complete the construction of China’s Tiangong Space Station, a space station
being built by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA) in the Low Earth
Orbit(LEO).
·
Following the
completion of Space Station construction, China will become the only country to
own a space station.
·
The International
Space Station (ISS) of Russia is a
collaboration project involving 5 space agencies (countries), National
Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) (United States of America),
Roscosmos (Russia), Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) (Japan), European
Space Agency, and Canadian Space Agency (CSA) (Canada).

Rafael Nadal Parera ‘Rafa’, Spanish tennis player clinched his 22nd Grand

was played on clay courts.
·
In Women category Iga Swiatek of
Poland (Rank 1) defeated Coco Gauff of
United States (US) (Rank 13) to win second career Grand Slam title at French
open 2022.

MITHALI RAJ RETIRES FROM ALL FORMS OF INTERNATIONAL CRICKET
·
Indian women’s cricket
team captain, Mithali Raj (39 years old), hailing from Jodhpur, Rajasthan,
announced her retirement from all forms of international cricket.
·
Previously in September
2019, she retired from twenty 20 International (T20Is) but continued to play
One Day Internationals(ODIs) and Test cricket.
·
She is the only female cricketer to reach the 7,000-run mark.
·
She holds the record for most runs in Women’s ODI.
·
She has scored a tally
of 10,868 runs across all three formats and became the “leading run-scorer of
all-time in women’s international cricket”.

The United Nations(UN)’s
World Oceans Day is annually observed across the globe on 8th June to
create awareness about the importance of the Oceans as the major source of food
and medicine and a critical part of the biosphere.
·
The theme of World Oceans Day 2022 is “Revitalization:
collective action for the ocean”.
