2021 ACCESS TO SEEDS INDEX
·
As per the 2021 Access to Seeds Index,
which is launched as part of World Benchmarking Alliance (WBA), India is
one among the 6 South and South-East Asian countries that attracts most
investments in the domestic seed sector from the global seed industry.
·
The 2021
Access to Seeds Index ranks 31 seeds companies (13 global and 18 regional
companies selling vegetable and field crop) in South and South-East Asia.
·
East-West
Seed company ranked 1st in list.
2.
INDIA’S TOP 10 POLICE
STATIONS FOR 2021
·
Sadar Bazar Police Station (PS) in Delhi has topped the annual list of India’s Top 10 Police Stations for 2021 released
by the Ministry of Home Affairs(MoHA).
·
Gangapur
PS in Ganjam, Odisha is adjudged as 2nd best followed by Bhattu Kalan PS,
Fatehabad, Haryana as the 3rd best.
·
The ranking process assesses the performance
of police stations on parameters like handling of property offences, crime
against women, crime against weaker sections, missing persons cases,
infrastructure, approachability of personnel and feedback of citizens etc.

KUWAIT REAPPOINTS SHEIKH
SABAH AL-KHALID AS PRIME MINISTER

Kuwait reappointed Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid
Al-Sabah as the Prime Minister (PM)
of the country, he has already been the PM since 2019.
·
He was
reappointed by an Emiri order (Head of the State) issued
by Crown Prince Sheikh Meshal al-Ahmad al-Sabah.
·
Kuwait is
an emirate, the Emir is the head of state and the Al
Sabah is the ruling family which dominates the country’s
political system.

INDIA’S 1ST PRIVATELY BUILT
CRYOGENIC ROCKET ENGINE TEST-FIRED
·
Skyroot Aerospace, a space technology startup
based in Hyderabad, has successfully test-fired Dhawan-1, India’s first
privately developed fully cryogenic rocket engine.
·
The
rocket engine Dhawan-1 is named after Satish Dhawan, an Indian rocket
scientist.
·
Dhawan-1 is a completely ‘Made-in-India’
cryogenic engine, developed using 3D printing with a superalloy.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE
ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN 2021–NOV 25
·
United Nations (UN)’s International Day for the
Elimination of Violence against Women is annually observed across the globe on November 25th.
·
The global theme of International Day for the
Elimination of Violence against Women 2021 is “Orange the World:
End Violence against Women Now!”.
·
The global theme 2021 is set by the UNiTE
Campaign 2021.
6. FOUNDATION STONE OF INDIA’S 1ST ZERO EMISSION AIRPORT LAID
·
The
Prime Minister (PM) of India, Narendra Damodardas Modi laid the foundation
stone of Noida International Airport (NIA) or Jewar Airport at
Jewar, Uttar Pradesh (UP).
·
It
will be India’s first net zero emissions airport.
·
It
has earmarked dedicated land to be developed as a forest park using trees from
the project site.
7.
IAF
commissions 2 Mirage 2000 Fighters from France
·
The
Indian Air Force (IAF) received 2-second hand combat
aircrafts Mirage 2000 from France at Gwalior
air base as a major boost to the fighter jet fleet of IAF amid border
tensions with China and Pakistan.
·
The
Mirage upgrade deal was
signed in 2011 between the France and India was signed for
enhancing the capabilities of these 51 aircraft

·
Kantar’s BrandZ India report unveils
2021’s most purposeful brands in India.
·
As
per the report, Amazon, Asian Paints, and Tata Tea emerge as the most
purposeful brands in India across technology, non-Fast-moving consumer goods
(FMCG) and FMCG categories respectively.

INDIA
GETS ELECTED TO UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE COMMITTEE
·
India
is elected to the World Heritage
Committee of the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) with 142 votes for a four-year term from 2021-2025.
·
India
is one among the 12 new members to the World Heritage Committee elected at
the 23rd General
Assembly of state parties to the World Heritage Convention held
at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris, France under the chairmanship
of H.E. Mr Tebogo Seokolo (South
Africa).
·
The Committee is responsible for reporting on conservation and implementing the World
Heritage Convention and also decides on the inscription or deletion of
properties on the List of World Heritage in Danger and World
Heritage List.

41ST
SESSION OF UNESCO’S GENERAL CONFERENCE HELD IN PARIS, FRANCE
·
Ambassador Santiago Irazabal Mourão, Permanent
Delegate of Brazil to UNESCO, has taken over as the President of the
41st session of the General Conference.
·
Audrey
Azoulay was reelected for a 2nd mandate as Director-General of UNESCO at the
41st session of the General Conference with 155 votes out of a total of 169
ballots cast.

COLLINS
DICTIONARY’S WORD OF THE YEAR 2021 – NFT
·
The
Collins Dictionary has selected the term ‘NFT’, the short for ‘Non-Fungible
Token’, as the word of the year 2021.
·
According
to Collins, NFT is defined as a unique digital certificate, registered in a block
chain, that is used to record the ownership of an asset such as an artwork or a
collectable.
·
Collins’s
word of the year 2020 was “Lockdown”.
·
NFT
is one of the 3 tech-based words to make it to Collins’ new words list.
·
‘Crypto’,
a short form of cryptocurrency and ‘metaverse’, which describes a
three-dimensional virtual world are the other 2 tech-based words on collins
list.
·
NFT
are digital assets, real-world physical assets like a painting, game, music album,
collectable sports cards.
12. INTERPOL ELECTS UAE’S AHMED NASER AL-RAISI AS ITS
PRESIDENT
·
The
International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) elected
Inspector General Ahmed
Naser Al-Raisi (United Arab Emirates) as its President for 4 year
term at the 89th Interpol general assembly meeting held in Istanbul,
Turkey.
·
India’s
Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) special director Praveen
Sinha elected as the delegate for Asia in the Executive Panel/committee of the Interpol.

·
National Milk Day is annually observed across India on 26th
November to mark the birth anniversary of Dr Verghese Kurien,
India’s ‘Father of White Revolution’.

National Milk Day 2021 marks the 100th Birth anniversary of
Verghese Kurien, who was also fondly known as the Milk Man of
India.
