INDIA’S FIRST GRASS
CONSERVATORY AT RANIKHET, UTTARAKHAND
·
India’s first ‘grass
conservatory’ or ‘germplasm conservation centre’ was inaugurated at Ranikhet in
Almora district of Uttarakhand.
·
This conservatory is
funded under the Central Government’s CAMPA (Compensatory Afforestation Fund
Management and Planning Authority) scheme and is developed by the research wing
of Uttarakhand Forest Department.

CYBER SECURITY
CONFERENCE ‘C0C0N’ 2021
·
The 14th edition of
Cyber Security ‘c0c0n’, an annual Hacking and Cyber Security Briefing, was inaugurated
virtually by Chief of Defense Staff General Bipin Rawat
·
Theme ‘Improvise, Adapt and Overcome’.
·
The conference was
conducted by the Kerala police in association with two
Non-Profit organisations, Society for the Policing of Cyberspace (POLCYB)
and Information Security Research Association (ISRA).

UNITED NATIONS CLIMATE
CHANGE CONFERENCE (COP 26)
·
The 26th Conference
of the Parties (COP26) under the United Nations Framework Convention on
Climate Change (UNFCCC) was held in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom (UK), for
better alignment with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
·
Egypt was chosen to host the upcoming session of the
conference COP27 in 2022 and United Arab Emirates (UAE)
was chosen to host COP28 in 2023.
·
India launched a web
portal on electric vehicles (EVs) named ‘E-Amrit’ at the COP26
Summit. The portal will act as a one-stop destination on all EV-related
information and will raise awareness on EVs and sensitize consumers on the
benefits of switching to EVs.
- India joins with South Africa, Indonesia, and the Philippines as the first round of beneficiaries of Accelerating Coal Transition (ACT) Investment Program of CIF (Climate Investment Funds).

Maharashtra became the only state in India to won the Inspiring
Regional Leadership award at the inaugural leadership awards of
the Under2 Coalition held on the sidelines of the COP26
summit.

KIDSRIGHTS
INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S PEACE PRIZE
·
Two Indian teenage
brothers, Vihaan (17) and Nav Agarwal (14) have won the 2021 KidsRights International
Children’s Peace Prize for tackling pollution from household
waste to achieve the goal of ‘Zero Waste India’.
·
The prize was
presented by Indian Nobel Peace laureate Kailash Satyarthi in The Hague,
Netherlands.

INTO ICC HALL OF FAME
INDUCTION
·
The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced cricket legends Janette Brittin,
Shaun Pollock and Mahela Jayawardene were inducted into the hall of
fame.
- Pollock is from South Africa .
·
The ICC Hall of Fame
recognises the achievements of the legends of the game from cricket’s long and
illustrious history. 106 players have been inducted since its launch in 2009
·

SPACEX – LAUNCHES 53
STARLINK SATELLITES INTO ORBIT
·
SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies Corp.) launched 53
Starlink satellites on a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape
Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida, United States.
·
SpaceX has been
building Starlink, which is a satellite-based global internet system to bring
internet access to underserved areas of the world.
·
SpaceX aims to launch
around 30,000 Starlink satellites into orbit and expand its user pool to
millions of customers.
·
SpaceX’s Crew-3
mission carried 4 astronauts, Raja Chari (Indian
origin), Tom Marshburn, Kayla Barron, and Matthias
Maurer on a 22-hour flight from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida
and was docked successfully to the International Space Station (ISS).

2021 BRAZILIAN GRAND PRIX

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton (United Kingdom) won
the Brazilian Grand Prix 2021 in
Sao Paulo, Brazil.
·
This marks the 101st victory
of Lewis Hamilton in Formula One racing
·
In September 2021,
Lewis Hamilton became the 1st Formula-One driver in the
history to reach 100 wins, after winning the Russian Grand Prix (GP).
9. BOOK “SUNRISE OVER AYODHYA: NATIONHOOD IN OUR TIMES”

Former Union Minister
and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid have released his
new book titled “Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times”.
·
The book is about the
unity between Hindus and Muslims.
·
Salman Khurshid
served as the Minister of External Affairs(MEA) from 1993 to 1996.
·
In 2009 he served as
the Union Minister of State (with Independent Charges) of Corporate Affairs and
Minority Affairs
