1.MEDICINES FROM THE SKY PROJECT

      Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ministry of Civil Aviation  launched  ‘Medicines from the Sky (MFTS)’ in  Vikarabad district of Telangana to send medicines to primary healthcare centres using drones.

      With this Telangana became the first Indian state to use drones for Beyond Visual Line of Sight (BVLoS) to deliver the payload.

      MFTS is an initiative of the Government of Telangana in association with World Economic Forum (WEF), NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog, and HealthNet Global (Apollo Hospitals).

 

2.2+2 MINISTERIAL DIALOGUE WITH AUSTRALIA

      India hosted the 1st ever 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue with Australia in New Delhi.

      In this regard, Australia’ s Marise Payne, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Women and Peter Dutton, Minister of Defence Minister visited India.

      From the Indian side it was attended by Union Ministers Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD).

 

3.OVER HALF OF FARM HOUSEHOLDS STILL UNDER DEBT: NSO REPORT

      In accordance with the National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, ‘Situation Assessment of Agricultural Households and Land Holdings of Households in Rural India, 2019’  released, more than half of India’s agricultural households were in debt, with an average outstanding of Rs 74,121 in 2018 as compared to Rs 47,000 in 2013, an increase of 57.7%.

      The survey theme was “Land and Livestock Holdings of Households and Situation Assessment of Agricultural Households” in the rural areas of India.

 

4.BRICS SUMMIT 2021

      Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi chaired the 13th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa) Summit 2021 virtually on the theme ‘ BRICS@15: Intra-BRICS Cooperation for Continuity, Consolidation and Consensus’ .

      The summit saw the adoption of the  ‘New Delhi Declaration’.

 

5.SARDAR IQBAL SINGH LALPURA APPOINTED AS CHAIRMAN OF NCM

      Sardar Iqbal Singh Lalpura took charge as the Chairman of National Commission of Minorities (NCM) in the presence of Minister of Minority Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi. The event was conducted in Delhi.

      He succeeded  the outgoing chairman of the commission, Ghayorul Hasan.

 

6.BHUPENDRA PATEL APPOINTED AS CM OF GUJARAT

      Bhupendra Patel was appointed as the 17th Chief Minister (CM) of Gujarat by the Governor Acharya Devvrat.

      He succeeded Vijay Rupani, who had resigned earlier.

 

7.INDIA’S LARGEST OPEN-AIR FERNERY

      India’s largest Open-air Fernery, consisting 120 different varieties of ferns, was inaugurated by the famous expert on Pteridophyte (Ferns), Dr Nilambar Kunetha in Ranikhet, Uttrakhand.

      However, it is the country’s first open-air fernery in natural surroundings which is not under any poly-house/ shade house.

      The fernery has the largest collection of fern species, second to only Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanical Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI), Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala.

 

8.EARTH’S NORTHERNMOST ISLAND

      A team of researchers discovered a new island, the northernmost point of land on Earth, off the coast of Greenland during a Danish-Swiss research expedition.

      This island was revealed by the movement of the ice.

      The researchers proposed to name the island “Qeqertaq Avannarleq”, which means ‘the northernmost island’ in Greenlandic.

 

9.2021 US OPEN TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP

      The 141st edition of the US Open Tennis Championship was held in USA’s New York City, which is also the 4th & last Grand Slam title of 2021 being conducted in a ‘Hard Court’ .

      Russia’s Daniil Medvedev, the current World No.2 ranked tennis player, defeated Serbia’s Novak Djokovic in the finals of Men’s Singles.

      18-year old Emma Raducanu from Britain defeated Canada’s Leylah Fernandez to win the Women’s Singles Title.

 

10.2021 ITALIAN GRAND PRIX

      McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo (Australia) won the 2021 Italian Grand Prix, making his 1st victory since 2018, notably this is McLaren’s 1st win after 9-years.

      Ricciardo was closely followed by McLaren’s Lando Norris and Mercedes Valtteri Bottas finishing the race in 2nd and 3rd position.

 

11.BOOK- “A RUDE LIFE: THE MEMOIR”

      Veteran journalist Vir Sanghvi has authored a memoir titled “A Rude Life: The Memoir” which shares his views and experience as an Indian journalist.

      The book has been published by Viking Penguin India.

 

12.WORLD FIRST AID DAY 2021 – SEPTEMBER 11

      World First Aid Day is annually observed across the globe on the 2nd Saturday of September to promote and celebrate the importance of first aid in preventing injuries and saving lives in critical situations.

      The theme of World First Aid Day 2021 is “Be a hero at school and in your community”.

 

13.TN CELEBRATES 11TH SEPTEMBER AS “MAHAKAVI DAY”

      M.K. Stalin, Chief Minister(CM) of Tamil Nadu(TN) announced that the 11th September of every year starting from 2021 will be observed as the “Mahakavi Day”.

      The day aims to pay tribute to the Freedom fighter, eminent Tamil Poet Mahakavi Subramania Bharati.

      11th September 2021 marks the 100th Death anniversary of Subramania Bharati.

 

14.‘IRASTE’ ROAD SAFETY PROJECT TO REDUCE ROAD ACCIDENTS

      Nitin Gadkari launched ‘ iRaste- a two year pilot project in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

      It is a collaborative project, developed by Intel India, International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H), Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) – Central Road Research Institute (CRRI), Mahindra and Mahindra and  Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC).

      It stands for Intelligent Solutions for Road Safety through Technology and Engineering.

 

15.WORLD BANK REPORT

      The World Bank released the updated Groundswell report “Groundswell Part 2: Acting on Internal Climate Migration” on 13th September 2021.

      According to the report, Climate Change could force more than 216 million people from across 6 regions(South Asia; Latin America; Sub-Saharan Africa; East Asia and the Pacific; North Africa; and Eastern Europe and Central Asia) to migrate from their own countries by 2050.

 

16.GOVT APPOINTED 10 MERCHANT BANKERS FOR MANAGING IPO OF LIC

      The Government of India has appointed 10 merchant bankers for managing Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Life Insurance Corporation (LIC).

      The IPOs of LIC will be launched in the month of January to March 2022.

      The government also has selected Concept Communications as their advertising agency and Kfintech as the Registrar and Share transfer agent of the IPO.

 

17.NUCLEAR MISSILE TRACKING SHIP INS DHRUV

      India has launched its first satellite and nuclear-missile tracking ship INS (Indian Naval Ship) Dhruv.

      It is the first of its kind ocean surveillance ship (OSS) that is capable of tracking ballistic missiles at a long-range.

      It was launched by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in the presence of Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Karambir Singh from Visakhapatnam (Andhra Pradesh), its commission site.

      It is built by the Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL) in collaboration with the DRDO.

 

18.INDIA LEADS IN TEST SERIES AGAINST ENGLAND

      India lead in the 5-match Test Series against England by winning 2 of the 4-matches played and drawing the 1st match.

      The Fifth match of the series was cancelled due to COVID-19 outbreak among 4 of the Indian crew members.

19.OSCAR FERNANDES PASSED AWAY IN KARNATAKA

      Former Union Minister and Congress leader Oscar Fernandes passed away in Mangaluru, Karnataka. He was 80 year old.

      Fernandes was also a trained performer of Yakshagana, the traditional art form of coastal Karnataka.

 

20.NATIONAL HINDI DIWAS 2021 – SEPTEMBER 14

      National Hindi Diwas is annually observed across India on September 14th to commemorate the adoption of Hindi in the Devanagari Script as one of the official languages of India.
