1. INDIA
RANKS 76TH ON WEF GLOBAL ENERGY TRANSITION INDEX
✔India
has moved up 2 places to rank 76th on a global energy transition index. The
annual list, compiled by Geneva-based World Economic Forum, has ranked 115
economies on how well they are able to balance energy security and access with
environmental sustainability and affordability.
✔Sweden
remains on the top and is followed by Switzerland and Norway in the top three.
2. RESERVE
BANK OF INDIA HAS APPOINTED A FIVE-MEMBER COMMITTEE UNDER THE CHAIRMANSHIP OF
NANDAN NILEKHANI TO STRENGTHEN DIGITAL PAYMENTS
✔Reserve
Bank of India has appointed 5-member committee under the chairmanship of Nandan
Nilekani to strengthen digital payments as well as to boost financial inclusion
through Financial Technology.
✔The
purpose of the event is to shape India’s predominance in FinTech, build the
future strategy and policy to uplift the financial inclusion.
✔With
the revolution in the FinTech sector India’s aim is to emerge as a 10 trillion
dollar economy.

PETER TABICHI CONFERRED WITH GLOBAL TEACHER PRIZE FOR 2019
✔Peter
Tabichi has been conferred with the prestigious Global Teacher Prize for 2019
at a ceremony in Dubai hosted by Hollywood actor, Hugh Jackman.
✔The
award recognises the “exceptional” teacher’s commitment to pupils in a remote
part of Kenya’s Rift Valley.
4. INTERNATIONAL
DAY OF REMEMBRANCE OF THE VICTIMS OF SLAVERY AND THE TRANSATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE:
25TH MARCH
✔International
Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade
was observed all over the world to raise awareness about the dangers of racism
and to honour and to remember people who suffered for the slavery system.
✔The
theme for International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the
Transatlantic Slave Trade 2019 is “Remember
Slavery: The Power of the Arts for Justice”.
