INTERNATIONAL YOGA FESTIVAL HELD IN
RISHIKESH
i.Uttarakhand
CM Trivendra Singh Rawat inaugurated the 29th edition of annual International
Yoga Festival at ParmarthNiketan ashram in Rishikesh.
ii.The
International Yoga Festival has been organised by ParmarthNiketan Ashram in
association with Union Ministry of AYUSH, Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board
and GarhwalMandalVikas Nigam Ltd.
iii.Over
1500 yoga practitioners from 94 countries have gathered in Rishikesh for this
week-long festival.

1ST COUNTRY TO LAUNCH OWN
CRYPTOCURRENCY AS LEGAL TENDER:
i.
This cryptocurrency is named SOV. Its legal tender status has been approved by
the parliament of Marshall Islands.
ii.
It will be issued to the public through an initial coin offering.
iii.
SOV will function like regular money.
3.
RBI TO CONDUCT ADDITIONAL REPO
OPERATIONS TO PROVIDE LIQUIDITY SUPPORT TO BANKS
i.
Repo operation are undertaken by RBI to provide liquidity to banks which helps
in overcoming temporary liquidity mismatches.
ii.
In the current scenario, wherein the liquidity has tightened in the banking
system owning credit growth outpacing deposit growth, additional repo
operations appear to be a viable way out.
iii.
RBI will provide additional liquidity support to banks by undertaking
additional repo operations for longer tenors up to 31 days, on every Tuesday of
March 2018 for Rs 25000 crore each.
iv.
These operations will thereby infuse liquidity aggregating Rs 1 lakh crore in
to the banking system by the end of March 2018.

i.
Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be the new face of Dream11’s multi-channel marketing
campaigns and brand engagement activities.

INDIA’S FIRST HELICOPTER TAXI SERVICE
WAS LAUNCHED IN BENGALURU
i.
The first trip of the heli taxi was between Electronic City and Kempegowda
International Airport in Bengaluru and was completed in 15 minutes.
ii.
This service has been launched by Kerala-based Thumby Aviation Private Limited,
using a Bell 407 helicopter with a capacity of six passengers.
iii.
Currently, the heli taxi will operate between Electronic City and Kempegowda
International Airport in Bengaluru only.

NITINGADKARI LAUNCHES SUKHADYATRA APP
AND TOLL-FREE EMERGENCY NUMBER FOR HIGHWAY USERS
i.
The SukhadYatra app will provide information on toll rates to highway users as
they approach the toll plaza.
ii.
Users can report road quality-related information or any accident or pothole
they witness on the highway.
iii.
It also provides real-time data on waiting time expected at Plazas and other
facilities on the highway to the users.
iv.
The toll-free number – 1033 will allow users to report any emergency condition
on the highway or highway-related feedback.
v.
Ambulance/tow away services are clubbed with this service to provide swift
response in emergency cases.
