1.      NAVY CHIEF SUNIL LANBA ON A 5-DAY VISIT TO USA
i. Navy Chief Admiral Sunil Lanba is on a five-day visit to the USA.
ii.The visit aims to consolidate relations between the Armed Forces of both the nations and to explore new avenues of defence co-operation.
ii. During the visit, Admiral Lanba will hold bilateral discussions with US Defence Secretary James Mattis, Secretary of the Navy Richard Spencer among others.


2.      UN ISSUES $951 MILLION APPEAL FOR ROHINGYA REFUGEES
i. The United Nations has issued an appeal for 951 million Dollars to meet the needs of nearly 900,000 Rohingya refugees in Bangladesh. 
ii. The UN is an intergovernmental organization tasked to promote international cooperation and to create and maintain international order.
iii.The organization was established on 24 October 1945 after World War II with the aim of preventing another such conflict

3.      MAURITIUS PRESIDENT AMEENAH GURIB-FAKIM RESIGNS OVER A FINANCIAL SCANDAL
i. Mauritius President Ameenah Gurib-Fakim has resigned after being embroiled in a scandal over the use of a credit card to buy luxury personal items.
ii. It has been alleged that Gurib-Fakim made personal purchases, buying jewellery and clothing using a credit card provided by London-based Planet Earth Institute.

4.      1ST NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON POSHAN ABHIYAN HELD IN NEW DELHI
i. The first National workshop on POSHAN Abhiyan involving all the states and union territories was held at Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra, New Delhi.
ii.The Ministry of Women and Child Development has organised the day-long workshop with participation from all the states/UTs.
iii. The Ministry of WCD had also launched five e-Incremental Learning Approach courses and two Early Childhood Care and Education software modules.

5.      GOVERNMENT APPROVES PLASTIC PARK TO BE SET UP IN DEOGHAR, JHARKHAND
i. Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilizers and Parliamentary Affairs, Mr. Ananthkumar announced  setting up of a Plastic Park in Deoghar District, Jharkhand.
ii. The project would be set up at a cost of Rs. 120 crores in an area of 150 acres.
iii.it will tackle the menace of plastic waste being generated due to the place being a tourist attraction.International

6.      WORLD SPARROW DAY ON 20TH MARCH
i. World Sparrow Day is observed on 20 March every year globally to create awareness about the protection of sparrows.
ii.The theme for this year's WSD is 'I Love Sparrows'.
iii. The first World Sparrow Day was observed in 2010 across the globe.
iv.The theme has been inspired by the hope that more and more of us will celebrate the relationship between people and Sparrows.

7.      PURVA BARVE WINS WOMEN’S SINGLES U-19 TITLE AT ISRAEL JUNIOR 2018
i. India’s Purva Barve has won the Women’s Singles (Under-19) title at the Israel Junior 2018 Badminton tournament held in Rishon LeZion, Israel.
ii. She has defeated the third-seeded and top-ranked Russian Anastasiia Pustinskaia in three sets.
iii.The title is her first in 2018.
iv. Earlier she won the Israel Junior 2017, Italian Junior International 2017 apart from a bronze at the Russian Junior White Nights 2017.
