1. GOOGLE INDIA LAUNCHES MY BUSINESS AND DIGITAL
UNLOCKED TOOL FOR SMALL AND MEDIUM BUSINESSES IN INDIA.
i. Google India has
launched two new initiatives named My Business and Digital Unlocked for the
small and medium businesses in India.
ii. My Business tool
small businesses would be able to set up website from their Digital Unlocked mobile devices.
iii. Digital Unlocked
programme will impart mobile and online courses to help small businesses. It is
a digital training programme to enable the small businessman to adapt them with
the changing technologies.

JOVENEL MOISE ELECTED AS THE PRESIDENT OF HAITI
i. Jovenel Moise has been
elected as the President of Haiti.
ii. Jovenel Moise is a
businessman from Haiti capital city of Port-au-Prince and is related to banana
export business. Mr. Moise who is from
Bald Heads Party has won 55.6% of the total votes casted.

RBI APPOINTED SUREKHA MARANDI AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
i. India’s central
banking institution Reserve Bank of India was appointed Surekha Marandi as its
Executive Director.
ii. She replaced U S
Paliwal.
iii. Marandi was working
as the Chief Vigilance Officer and Principal Chief General Manager in the
Reserve Bank.
iv. She has also served
on the Boards of United Bank of India and Bank of Baroda.

AUSTRALIAN CRICKETER ARTHUR MORRIS INDUCTED INTO ICC CRICKET HALL OF FAME
i. Former Australian
cricketer Arthur Morris was inducted into the International Cricket Council’s
Hall of Fame.
ii. Morris, who became
the 82nd player to be inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame, was given the
honour posthumously.

TWO-DAY ASSAM BIOTECH CONCLAVE BEGINS IN GUWAHATI
i. The two day Assam
Biotech Conclave 2017 began in Guwahati.
ii. CM Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the
conclave in presence of Science and Technology minister Keshab Mahanta.
iii. The Conclave has been organized by the
Guwahati Biotech Park in association with Federation of Industry & Commerce
of North Eastern Region as an Industry partner Chief Minister hoped that this
conclave would help Assam in biotechnology sector.
iv. Guwahati Biotech Park
is also organizing a contest entitled ‘Talent Search Contest on Innovative
Biotechnology Entrepreneurial Ideas’. The shortlisted participants will present
their proposals and the best proposals will be awarded.
6.
RS. 5 DISCOUNT FOR ONLINE PAYMENT OF LPG CYLINDER
i. State-owned fuel
retailers, Indian Oil Corporation , Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd and Hindustan
Petroleum Corp Ltd will offer an upfront discount of Rs 5 on every LPG refill
to all LPG customers who will book and pay for it online.
ii. To provide cashless
transactions, the government had asked oil companies to pay consumers 0.75 per
cent discount on cashless fuelling of petrol and diesel at petrol pumps.
iii. This has now been
extended to cooking gas.

PM NARENDRA MODI RELEASES SPECIAL COMMEMORATIVE POSTAGE IN 350TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF GURU GOBIND SINGH
i. PM Narendra Modi
released special commemorative stamps on Prakash Parv in 350th birth
anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh in Patna.
ii. Bihar Governor Ram
Nath Kovind, CM Nitish Kumar, Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal, Union Minsters
Ravi Shankar Prasad, Ram Vilas Paswan and Harsimrat Kaur were present on this
occasion.

LUDHIANA DISTRICT ADMINISTRATION DEVELOPS MOBILE APP FOR ELECTION COMMISSION OF
INDIA
i. For the benefit of voters,
candidates, election staff as well as the Election Commission of India, the
district administration of Ludhiana has developed a mobile application named
ECI360.
ii. This mobile app would
prove beneficial for all the stakeholders of upcoming assembly elections.

MAHINDRA SINGH DHONI STEPS DOWN AS CAPTAIN OF T-20 & ODI FORMAT
i. Indian Cricketer,
Mahendra Singh Dhoni stepped down as the
captain of the Indian team in limited over formats.
ii. He will still be
available for selection as a wicketkeeper-batsman for the One Day and T20I
series starting 15 January 2017.
iii. Under his leadership
India have won the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007, ICC Champions Trophy in 2013 the
ICC ODI World Cup in 2011, and also reached the top of the Test rankings in
2009.
iv. Test skipper Virat
Kohli will replace the Ranchi wicketkeeper-batsman.

INDIA WINS RECORD 4TH STRAIGHT SAFF WOMEN'S CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
i. Indian Women Football
Team won their fourth consecutive South Asian Football Federation Women’s
Championship title defeating Bangladesh 3-1 in the finals at the Kanchenjunga
Stadium in Siliguri.
ii. This was the first
time India had hosted the SAFF Women’s Championship.

“THE PEOPLE’S PRESIDENT: DR. A P J ABDUL KALAM” BOOK ON DR. KALAM TITLED
RELEASED
i. A book on the former
President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam was released in New Delhi by the Vice President,
Shri M. Hamid Ansari in the presence of the Union Minister for Finance and
Corporate, Arun Jaitley.
ii. The book has been written by Shri S.M. Khan who served
as the Press Secretary to President Kalam.
iii. The book mentions
the various National and International tours made by the great President during
his tenure.
