SHALABH SETH APPOINTED CEO OF OLA FLEET TECHNOLOGIES
i.
Shalabh Seth has appointed as the CEO of Ola Fleet Technologies by Indian
online transportation network company Ola
ii.
Seth will drive supply growth through leasing and other driver focused
initiatives to consolidate Ola’s position as the market leader in the Indian
ride sharing space.
iii.
Prior to this, Shalabh was the managing director in SABMiller India and he
responsible for business expansion and growth in the country.
iv.
He has also worked with ITC for over eight years across operations, supply
chain and sales.
2.
DANIEL ORTEGA SWORN IN NICARAGUA’S PRESIDENT FOR THIRD CONSECUTIVE TERM
i.
Daniel Ortega was sworn in as the President of Nicaragua for the third
consecutive term his wife, Rosario Murillo was elected as the new vice
president.
ii.
Ortega, took the oath in Managua in the presence of the presidents of
Venezuela, Bolivia and Taiwan.
iii.
Ortega and Murillo were elected with 72.5 percent of the vote.

DR. AUSAF SAYEED TO BE THE NEXT HIGH COMMISSIONER OF INDIA TO THE REPUBLIC OF
SEYCHELLES
i.
Former IFS officer Dr. Ausaf Sayeed has been appointed as the next High
Commissioner of India to the Republic of Seychelles.

Ausaf is currently working as the Consul General, Consulate General of India, Chicago

NATIONAL YOUTH DAY: 12 JANUARY
i.
12 January of every year is observed as National Youth Day, the birthday of
Swami Vivekananda.
ii.
Swamiji's hundred fifty-fourth birth anniversary Several functions are being
organized across the country to mark the occasion.
iii.
PM Narendra Modi addressing National Youth Day function at Rohtak, Haryana
through video conferencing.
iv.
The government felt that the philosophy of Vivekananda and his ideals are a
great source of inspiration for the Indian youth.
5.
VIKRAM PAWAH APPOINTED AS PRESIDENT OF BMW GROUP INDIA
i.
German based car maker BMW has appointed Vikram Pawah as the President of
India.
ii.
He replaced Frank Schloeder who will return to German as the position of Head
of Business Steering – Luxury Class.
ii.
Pawah was worked as the Managing Director
of Harley-Davidson India.
6. HRD MINISTER RELEASES CYBER VOCABULARY BOOK
CYBER PATHSHALA AUTHORED BY TARUN VIJAY
i.
Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar released a book on cyber vocabulary named
Cyber Pathshala authored by BJP leader and writer Tarun Vijay at World Book
Fair at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi.
ii.
The book aims to familiarise people of all ages including kids and adults and
rural to urban with the new vocabulary and prepare them especially the kids for
cyber security and to groom them as cyber warriors.
iii.
The book presents an innovative way of learning the alphabets by relating them
to popular Cyber Pathshala terms related
to demonetisation for instance, A for ATM, B for Bharat Interface for Money, C
for cashless, D for Demonetisation etc.
7.
TELANGANA TO HOST INTERNATIONAL KITE FESTIVAL
i.
The second international kite festival coinciding with the 'Makar Sankranti'
fest would be held for six days in Hyderabad and two other districts in
Telangana.
ii.
Telangana Tourism, which is organizing the International Kite
Festival-2017, committed to a social
cause of raising awareness about the importance of education and empowerment of
girl children and expects a footfall of around 50,000 visitors.
iii.
The festival will have participation from 17 countries with 40 national and 70
international kite flyers, and a special night-flying event as a pre-festival
event at People's Plaza
