1. GOVERNMENT REAPPOINTED URJIT PATEL AS DEPUTY
GOVERNOR OF RBI FOR A SECOND TERM
i. The Union Government has reappointed Dr Urjit
Patel as Deputy Governor of Reserve Bank of India for a second term.
ii. He will moniter the fields relating to
Monetary Policy, Economic Policy Research, Deposit Insurance, Statistics and
Information Management and Right to Information etc.
iii. RBI has
total four Deputy Governors the names are R. Khan, S.S. Mundra and R. Gandhi
and Urjit patel.
2. SMRITI
IRANI INAUGURATED 43RD NEW DELHI WORLD BOOK FAIR
i. Human Resource Minister Smriti Irani
inaugurated the 43rd edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair.
ii. The
Book fair was commenced with
China as the guest of honour .
iii. The Theme
of the fair is presentation of the cultural heritage of India.
iv. This year the fair has introduced a special
‘Navlekhan’ programme for promoting and publish young authors under the age of
40 writing in Indian languages.
3. OIL
MINISTRY LAUNCHES E-INITIATIVE TO IMPROVE LPG CUSTOMER SERVICE
i. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has
launched an online initiative to seek suggestions from LPG consumers across the
country for providing efficient and friendly service.
ii. Two online discussion forums has been started
named as Citizen-Friendly Services and Increasing LPG Coverage in the Country
have been launched.
iii. India is
observing as the year 2016 as the 'Year of LPG Consumers'.
4. SRI LANKAN PARLIAMENT GOING TO ADOPT NEW
CONSTITUTION
i. Sri Lankan parliament today has started a process to formulate a new constitution with
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
ii. The new constitution will replace the current
executive president headed constitution adopted in 1978.
5. KERALA DECIDED TO IMPLEMENT HEALTH CARE
PROJECT SAMPOORNA AROGYA KERALAM
i. Kerala Government has decided to implement a
health care project, Sampoorna Arogya Keralam
ii. Under this project different schemes in health
sector will be bring under one umbrella and ensure that beneficiaries get
financial aid up to 2 lakh rupee
iii. People will be provided with Smart Health Cards
which they can use in the public or
private hospitals.
6. WATTAN KO JANO INITIATIVE A PROGRAMME TO
EXPOSE YOUTH FROM J&K TO REST OF INDIA STARTED
i. Wattan Ko Jano an initiative started by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in
coordination with the Jammu and Kashmir Government.
ii. Earlier
more than 240 youth in the age-group of 15 to 24 from J&K met with Prime
Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
iii. Watan Ko Jano initiative is a Youth Exchange
Programme under which the children of militancy-hit victims and weaker sections of society are helped
iv. The initiative aims at exposing youth from the
Jammu & Kashmir state to the vibrant development and vitality of culture of
people residing in other states of the country.
