1. UNION
GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED NATIONAL JOB PORTAL FOR PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES
i. The Union Ministry of Social Justice
and Empowerment Thaawarchand Gehlot launched the National level Job portal
www.disabilityjobs.gov.in for Persons with Disabilities.
ii. The Ministry aims to carry out
skill training programme for 5 lakh Persons with Disabilities in next 3 years.
iii. It will empower persons with
disabilities by providing them all desired information for employment
opportunities on single window platform.
2. 150TH
BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF LALA LAJPAT RAI
i. 150th birth anniversary of freedom
fighter Lala Lajpat Rai is being celebrated on 28th January 2016.
ii. He was popularly known as Punjab
Kesari, The Lion of Punjab and also known as Sher-E- Punjab for his
contribution to the freedom movement.
iii. To celebrate this occasion a state
level function has been organised in Punjab at village Dhudi Ke, the birth
place of Lala Lajpat Rai in Moga district.
iv. Some of his famous books are The
Story of My Deportation, Arya Samaj, Unhappy India.
3. ADAM
LEWIS HEADED INDEPENDENT REVIEW PANEL TO SAFEGUARD INTEGRITY IN TENNIS
i. Tennis’s governing bodies constituted
a Independent Review Panel headed by Adam Lewis to safeguard integrity in
tennis.
ii. The panel is formed to review the
functioning of the existing anti-corruption policies and suggest measures to safeguard
the integrity of the game.
iii. The panel was formed against the
backdrop of reports on corruption allegations in the international tennis arena
by the BBC and Buzzfeed News.

AUSTRALIAN BATSMAN DAVID WARNER WON ALLAN BORDER MEDAL 2016
i. Australian batsman David Warner
defeated Captain Steve Smith for the prestigious Allan Border Medal for 2016.
ii. Allan Border Medal is considered to be the most prestigious
individual prize in Australian cricket.
iii. The medal is named after former
Australian captain Allan Border known for as most outstanding Australian
cricketer.

JAPANESE AUTOMAKER TOYOTA TOPS IN GLOBAL VEHICLE SALES IN 2015
i. Japanese automaker Toyota Motor Corporation
has topped in global vehicle sales in 2015.
ii. Toyota topped by selling 10.151
million vehicles become as the world’s top-selling automaker for the fourth year.
iii. The second place is grabbed by
German automaker Volkswagen followed by General Motors.
