1. COW NAMED YAHOO'S PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR
i. Search engine Yahoo named Cow as the Personality of the Year
2015.
ii.The animal managed to top the list among other high-profile
contenders for the spot in Yahoo's list of 2015 Year in Review for India.
iii. The announcement of beef ban in Maharashtra led to massive
debates and arguments which led it to became the icon of discussions on
intolerance.
iv.Prime Minister Narendra Modi remained the Most Searched
Politician in 2015.
v.Sunny Leone remained the top position as the Most Searched
Female Celebrity for the fourth year.
2. NEW ZEALAND CRICKET CAPTAIN BRENDON MCCULLUM ANNOUNCED
RETIREMENT
i.New Zealand cricket captain Brendon McCullum announced
retirement from all forms of international cricket.
ii.At present he is the wicket-keeper and New Zealand’s captain in all three forms of
the cricket that is tests, ODIs and twenty20.
iii.He is the first and only player to have scored two Twenty20
International centuries and 2000 runs in T20 Internationals.
3. ANDY MURRAY WON 2015 BBC SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AWARD
i.Andy Murray of the UK received the 2015 BBC Sports Personality
of the Year award in London.
ii.Murray was chosen for the award after a public vote in which he
received maximum votes.
iii.In November he led Great Britain's tennis team to a first
Davis Cup victory after a gap of 79 years.
iv. BBC Sports Personality of the Year award is the annual sports
award presented by the British Broadcasting Corporation.
4. NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY OBSERVED ON 22 DECEMBER
i.India celebrated National Mathematics Day on 22 december to commemorate the birth anniversary of great
Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan.
ii.India and UNESCO agreed to work jointly in spreading the joy of
mathematics and knowledge to students and learners across the world.
iii.National Mathematics Day was started as National Mathematics
Day by former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in 2012 on the 125th birth anniversary of Ramanujan.
5. ODISHA GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED ANWESHA SCHEME TO PROVIDE FREE
EDUCATION TO SC/ST STUDENTS
i. The Odisha Government launched Anwesha scheme to provide free
education to scheduled caste and scheduled tribe students.
ii.Under this scheme five Thousand SC and ST children will
annually be enrolled into Standard I in leading private schools of the state.
iii.Under this scheme government
will bear all expenses for education of the students .
iv.The expenses for fees, uniform, books, hostel accommodation as
well transportation will be sponsored by the government.

6. COCHIN SHIPYARD LIMITED BECAME FIRST LICENSED INDIAN SHIPYARD
TO MAKE LNG SHIPS
i.Cochin Shipyard Limited received certification to build
LNG-transporting ships for any client world-wide making it the 1st shipyard in India to get the approval.
ii.Cochin Shipyard has inked an agreement with French technology
company Gaz transport & Technigaz for its first foray into liquefied natural gas
shipbuilding.
iii.This is a new venture in ship-building technology with India
and marks a big step for Make in India.
iv.GTT is a leader in design engineering and provides
membrane-type containment systems for the transportation and storage of LNG.
