AKBARUDDIN IS INDIA’S NEXT PERMANENT REPRESENTATIVE TO UN
i. Syed
Akbaruddin is appointed as India’s next Permanent Representative to United
Nations.
ii. Syed
Akbaruddin is currently serving as an Additional Secretary in Ministry of
External Affairs .
iii. He will
replace Asoke Mukerji.
iv. The
United Nations is an intergovernmental organization to promote international
co-operation
2. NEPAL
FOOTBALL CHIEF GANESH THAPA BANNED BY FIFA
i. FIFA has banned
Nepal's football chief Ganesh Thapa for 10 years for corruption.
ii. FIFA
accused Thapa of committing various acts of misconduct in 2009 and 2011 during
elections at the Asian Football Confederation congress.
iii. FIFA
means The Fédération Internationale de Football Association is the governing
body of association football.
3. SIRIL
VERMA WON SILVER MEDAL AT 2015 WORLD JUNIOR BADMINTON CHAMPIONSHIPS
i. Indian
shuttler Siril Verma has won silver medal at the prestigious 2015 BWF World
Junior badminton Championships.
ii. Siril has
now joined the group of Indians shuttlers such as Saina Nehwal, RMV
Gurusaidutt, HS Prannoy, PV Sindhu and Sameer Verma who have won medals for
India in the Junior World Championships
4. CZECH
REPUBLIC DEFEATED RUSSIA TO RETAIN FED CUP
i. The Czech
Republic grabbed Fed Cup title after beating Russia in Prague.
ii. Czech
Republic has won fourth Fed Cup in five years.
iii. Fed Cup
is the premier international team competition in women's tennis, launched in
1963 to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the International Tennis Federation
5. UNION
MINISTRY OF FINANCE CONSTITUTED THE GOVERNING COUNCIL OF THE NATIONAL
INVESTMENT AND INFRASTRUCTURE FUND
i. Union
Ministry of Finance constituted the Governing Council of the National Investment and Infrastructure
Fund.
ii. The
Governing Council was mandated to consider approval of guidelines for
Investment of Trust property and Corpus of NIIF and parameters for appointment
and performance of investment managers/ advisors among others.
iii. National
Investment and Infrastructure Fund is set up to support new and stressed
projects and help restart the investment cycle.
iv. Initial
corpus of National Investment and Infrastructure Fund is 20000 crore rupees.
6. ODISHA
IMPLEMENTED NATIONAL FOOD SECURITY ACT, 2013 IN 14 DISTRICTS
i. National
Food Security Act 2013 was implemented in 14 districts of Odisha on 16 November
2015.
ii. The
beneficiaries would get 5 kg of rice at 3 rupees or 5 kg of wheat at 2 rupees
from Public Distribution centres in the 14 districts.
iii. The
National Food Security Act, 2013 is an Act of the Parliament of India which
aims to provide subsidized food grains.
