PNEUMONIA DAY WAS OBSERVED ON 12th NOVEMBER
i. World
Pneumonia Day was observed on 12th November across the world.
ii. Theme
of the day is Every Breath Counts: Stop Pneumonia Now.
iii. The
aim of the day is to raise awareness of pneumonia, promote prevention and
treatment and generate action to fight the illness.
iv. Pneumonia
is an infection affecting lungs and it leads to symptoms like cough and phlegm,
fever, chills, vomiting and breathing difficulty.

CHILDREN’S BOOK WRITER KAMALA LAXMAN PASSED AWAY
i. Famous
writer of children’s books Kamala Laxman passed away in Pune.
ii. She
was widow of legendary cartoonist R K Laxman.
iii. Some
famous books written by kamala laxman are: The Thama Stories, Raman of Tenali
& Other Stories, Thama and His Missing Mother etc

BRITAIN ANNOUNCED ‘2017 AS THE UK-INDIA YEAR OF CULTURE’
i.2017is
announced as the UK-India Year of Culture by Britain.
ii. Britain
announced it to mark the 70th Anniversary of Indian Independence.
iii. To
mark this day Britain government will send Shakespeare’s First Folio and the
800 year old Magna Carta to tour India.
4. ‘NAVAL SHIP VISHWAKARMA’ COMMISSIONED INTO
INDIAN NAVY
i. INS
Vishwakarma, the Shipwright School is commissioned into Indian Navy.
ii. INS
Vishwakarma was commissioned in keeping with the Navy’s thrust towards
indigenisation and ‘Make in India’ initiative
iii. Shipwright School was established in 1941 at INS Shivaji for
training shipwright artificers of Indian Navy.

5. PM NARENDRA MODI
INAUGURATES AMBEDKAR MEMORIAL IN LONDON
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi
inaugurated the recently acquired Ambedkar memorial in London
ii. Maharashtra Government recently acquired ambedkar’s house at King Henry’s Road in London, United
Kingdom.
iii. Maharashtra government had bought
this house in London where social reformer and architect of the Indian
Constitution Dr Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar had stayed as a student in the 1920s.
iv. Now it is converted into an international
memorial consisting of a public museum and a library owing to its cultural and
national importance and pride of millions of people of India.
