1) GOVERNMENT HIKES 10% SHARE IN CENTRAL TAXES:
Ø  Union government has agreed to increase 10% share of states in central taxes.
Ø  Now the state Governments will get a total share of 42% of the central taxes. (Earlier it was 32%)
Ø  This increase in the share of central taxes was recommended by the14th finance commission, headed by former RBI Governor Y.V.Reddy.
Ø  It will surely help states to design and implement schemes as per their requirements.
NOTE: OTHER IMPORTANT RECOMMENDATIONS BY THE COMMISSION ARE:
1.     To grant Rs. 1.94 lakh crore over 5 years to meet the revenue deficit of 11 states.
2.     Punjab will not remain a revenue deficit state after the increased share of states in Central taxes.

2) STD CALLS TO BE CHEAPER IN INDIA NOW:
Ø  Long Distance domestic telephone calls i.e. STD calls will be cheap in India now.
Ø  TRAI has cut the network charges by upto 50%.
Ø  TRAI has reduced the ceiling of the domestic carriage charge to 35 paise per minute from 65 paise per minute.
Ø  TRAI – Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.

3)  INDIAN ARMY AND SBI AGREEMENT:
Ø  Indian Army has signed anMoU with State Bank of India on Defense Salary Package.
Ø  MoU was signed between Lt. Gen. Rakesh Sharma and Dr. Vaidyan from SBI.
Ø  Earlier aMoU was signed between Indian Army and SBI in the year 2011, which was valid for a time period of 3 years.
IMPORTANT FACTS ABOUT MOU:
1.     A variety of Free/concessional services like free Drafts, free cheque books, free funds transfer to any bank branch in India through RTGS/NEFT.
2.     The Nepal Express Remittance scheme is also included in the provision which enables instant fund transfers to Nepal for benefit of the Nepali Domicile Gorkha Soldiers serving in the Indian Army.
3.     PAI is linked to the Savings Account instead of the Debit card. PAI – Personal Accidental Insurance.
4.     Processing Charges on the house and Car loans are waved off where as the Exemption percentage of margin money is enhanced.

4)   INDIAN SCIENTIST AWARDED 1.56 CRORES:
Ø  Indian scientist GurumoorthyKrishnamoorthy is awarded with a grant of 1.56 crore rupees or 1.5 million Euros by ERC (European Research Council) in Germany.
Ø  GurumoorthyKrishnamoorthy is the group leader at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology.
Ø  The Grant is awarded to GurumoorthyKrishnamoorthy with an aim to investigate the role of gut microbiodata in autoimmune diseases of the central nervous System such as multiple Sclerosis.
