1.       UAE ELECTED CHAIR OF INTERPOL COMMITTEE ON GOVERNANCE

·         The Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has been elected to chair International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL)’s Committee on Governance, one of the key advisory bodies of INTERPOL.

·         With this, UAE became the 1st country to chair this newly formed standing committee, and will serve 2 year-terms.

·         The committee was established in November 2024 by a resolution during the 92nd General Assembly of INTERPOL held in Glasgow, the United Kingdom (UK).

·         INTERPOL Secretary General- Valdecy Urquiza (Brazil), Headquarters- Lyon, France.

 

2.       SKOCH AWARD IN ‘POLICE SAFETY’

·         The “Investigation, Prosecution and Conviction Portal” of Uttar Pradesh (UP) Police won the SKOCH Award at national level in the ‘Police & Safety’ category.

·         SKOCH Awards, established in 2003, recognizes the exceptional contributions of individuals, projects and institutions in the field of governance, inclusive growth, technology excellence, corporate leadership, citizen service delivery, and capacity building.

·         The awards are presented annually by Gurugram (Haryana)-based SKOCH Group.

 


3.       JAMES ANDERSON ‘KNIGHTHOOD’

·         Former England fast bowler Sir James Michael Anderson has been awarded a ‘Knighthood’, one of the greatest honours conferred by the British Monarchy or Commonwealth nations,  for his ‘services to cricket’.

·         He is the 13th England cricketer to be awarded a knighthood for services to cricket.

·         He is the 3rd bowler on the all-time list for test wickets only after Australia’s Shane Warne (708) and Sri Lanka’s Muttiah Muralitharan (800).

 

4.       WORLD’S BEST AIRPORT 

·         Singapore Changi Airport (Singapore) was named the World’s Best Airport in 2025 during the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2025, in Madrid, Spain.

·         This marks the 13th time Singapore Changi Airport has won the title.

·         Doha’s (Qatar) Hamad International Airport (HIA), ranked second, and Japan’s Tokyo International Airport (Haneda) is ranked third.

·         New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), or Delhi International Airport, was ranked 32nd and also earned the title of Best Airport in India and South Asia in 2025.

·         Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Bengaluru was ranked 48th and has been named the Best Regional Airport in India & South Asia.

·         T2 of the KIA has received Skytrax’s 5-star airport terminal rating, making it the 1st airport in India to receive its 5-star rating.

·         GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL), Hyderabad, was honoured with the ‘Best Airport Staff in India & South Asia 2025’ award.

 

5.       JUSTICE DELIVERY AMONG STATES

·         According to the fourth edition of the India Justice Report (IJR 2025) Karnataka has topped the list of 18 large and mid-sized Indian states (with population over 1 crore) in terms of justice delivery.

·         Karnataka is followed by Andhra Pradesh at second place.

·         West Bengal (WB) ranked lowest among the 18 large and mid-sized states.

·         Among smaller states (with population upto 1 crore), Sikkim ranked first, followed by Himachal Pradesh (HP) at second place while Goa was at the bottom.

·         The India Justice Report (IJR) is an annual publication initiated by Mumbai (Maharashtra) based Tata Trusts in 2019. 

 

6.       WORLD’S TOP 10 BUSIEST AIRPORTS IN 2024

·         Montreal (Canada)-based Airports Council International (ACI) World released its Annual Rankings of the World’s busiest Airports 2024.

·         Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in New Delhi ranked at 9th spot, among the world’s top 10 busiest airports in 2024 in ‘passenger’ category.

·         USA-based Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) continues to be the world’s busiest airport.

·         It is followed by Dubai International Airport and USA-based Dallas Airport ranked at 2nd and 3rd position, respectively.

 

7.       MULTILATERAL MARITIME EXERCISE ‘AIKEYME’

·         The inaugural edition of the multilateral exercise is co-hosted by India and Tanzania.

·         The 6-day multilateral exercise saw participation from various African countries such as: Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mozambique, Seychelles and South Africa (SA).

 

8.       INDIA-UZBEKISTAN MILITARY EXERCISE DUSTLIK-VI

·         The 6th edition of the India-Uzbekistan Joint Military Exercise (DUSTLIK-VI) commenced at the Foreign Training Node (FTN) in Aundh, Pune (Maharashtra).

·         Uzbekistan Capital – Tashkent.

 

9.       KATY PERRY LAUNCHES INTO SPACE WITH ALL-FEMALE CREW

·         Pop star Katy Perry and five other women were launched into space on a Blue Origin rocket and came back safely to Earth.

·         The New Shepard rocket launched from its site in West Texas, USA.

·         This was the first space trip with only women in more than 60 years, after Valentina Tereshkova’s solo journey in 1963.

·         The singer was joined by Jeff Bezos’s fiancée Lauren Sánchez, CBS presenter Gayle King, former NASA rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, civil rights advocate Amanda Nguyn, and film producer Kerianne Flynn.

 

10.    ISSF WORLD CUP 2025

·         India finished its First leg of International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Cup 2025 campaign in Buenos Aires, Argentina, with a total of eight medals ,4 gold, 2 silver, and 2 bronze finishing second overall.

·         China topped the standings with 11 medals, including 5 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze.

·         ISSF President– Luciano Rossi (Italy), Headquarters– Munich, Germany.
