1.       JAN SUNWAI PORTAL TO RESOLVE EXPORTERS ISSUE

·         Union Minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal, launched the ‘Jan Sunwai portal’, which is an online platform of the Department of commerce, designed to streamline communication between stakeholders and authorities.

·         Another Portal also launched along with this by Export Trade Guarantee Corporation (ECGC), This portal will allow MSME sectors to avail 90% insurance cover for credit limit up to Rs 80 crore.

 

2.       UPI USERS CAN NOW SEND 5 LAKH FOR SOME TRANSACTIONS

·         The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has increased the transaction limits for tax payments using UPI (Unified Payment Interface), by allowing people to send 5 lakh in a single transaction.

·         Acquiring entities must ensure that the classification of their merchants within MCC-9311 strictly adheres to the tax payments only.

·         Earlier, the transaction limit for UPI was Rs 1 lakh except for certain categories of payments which have higher transaction limits.

·         The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) is an initiative taken by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and Indian Bank’s Association (IBA) to operate the retail payments and settlement systems in India.

·         This organization was founded in the year 2008 under the Payment and Settlement Systems Act, 2007.

·         Unified Payments Interface (UPI) is a system that powers multiple bank accounts into a single mobile application (of any participating bank), merging several banking features, seamless fund routing & merchant payments into one hood.

 


3.       INDIA’S FOREIGN KITTY JUMPS TO FRESH TIME HIGH AT 689.24BN

·         The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced that India’s forex reserves jumped USD 5.248 billion to a new all-time high of USD 689.235 billion till 6th September, 2024.

·         Forex reserves or foreign exchange reserves are assets that are held by a nation’s central bank or monetary authority.

·         It is generally held in reserve currencies, usually the US Dollar and to a lesser degree the Euro, Japanese Yen, and Pound Sterling.

·         They are used to back liabilities on their own issued currency, support the exchange rate and set monetary policy.

·         If the value of the Rupee decreases due to an increase in the demand of the foreign currency, then RBI sells the dollar in the Indian money market so that depreciation of the Indian currency can be checked.

·         Components of India’s foreign exchange reserves :

Ø  Foreign currency assets (FCAs) These are maintained in currencies like the US dollar, euro, pound sterling, Australian dollar and Japanese yen.

Ø  Gold

Ø  SDR (Special Drawing Rights): This is the reserve currency with the IMF. (The SDR is an international reserve asset. The SDR is not a currency, but its value is based on a basket of five currencies like the US dollar, the euro, the Chinese renminbi, the Japanese yen, and the British pound sterling.)

Ø  RTP (Reserve Tranche Position): This is the reserve capital with the IMF. (Each member of the IMF is assigned a quota (membership fee). A country’s Reserve Tranche Position (RTP) is the difference between the IMF’s holdings of that country’s currency and the country’s IMF-designated quota.)

 

4.       AYUSHMAN BHARAT HEALTH COVERAGE TO ALL SENIOR CITIZENS AGED 70 AND ABOVE

·         In a significant step towards enhancing healthcare access for the elderly, the Union Cabinet has approved the expansion of the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) to cover all senior citizens aged 70 years or above.

·         This move is set to benefit approximately 45 million families, encompassing around 60 million senior citizens, providing them with free health insurance coverage of Rs5 lakh on a family basis.

·         This initiative will be implemented with a budgetary outlay of Rs3,437 crore.

 

5.       INTERNATIONAL DAY OF CLEAN AIR FOR BLUE SKIES 2024 – SEPTEMBER 7

·         The United Nations (UN’sInternational Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies is annually observed across the world on 7 September to raise awareness about the importance of clean air for a sustainable future.

·         The 2024 theme of International Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies is, “Invest in #CleanAirNow.”

 

6.       WORLD PHYSIOTHERAPY DAY 2024 –  SEPTEMBER 8

·         World Physiotherapy Day (WPTD) also known as World Physical Therapy Day is annually observed across the globe on September 8 

·         The theme of World Physical Therapy Day 2024 is “Low Back Pain and the Role of Physiotherapy in its Management and Prevention”.

·         World Physiotherapy is a global body representing over 600,000 physiotherapists from member organisations in 128 countries/territories.

7.       UNGA DECLARES JULY 6 AS ‘WORLD RURAL DEVELOPMENT DAY’

·         The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) at its 78th session, unanimously adopted a draft resolution (A/78/L.84/Rev.2) in September 2024, proclaiming 6th July of every year as “World Rural Development Day” (WRDD).

·         The first-ever United Nations (UN’s) World Rural Development Day will be observed on 6 July, 2025.

·         The resolution was initiated by Bangladesh and supported by a core group of countries comprising India, Nepal, Peru, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, etc.

8.       WORLD SUICIDE PREVENTION DAY 2024 – SEPTEMBER 10

·         World Suicide Prevention Day (WSPD) is annually observed across the globe on September 10 to spread awareness about suicide prevention, reduce stigma and help people.

·         The triennial theme for World Suicide Prevention Day for the term 2024-2026 is ‘Changing the Narrative on Suicide’ with the call to action ‘Start the Conversation’.

·         The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP):Headquarters – Washington

 

9.       HINDI DIWAS -14 SEPTEMBER

·         Hindi Diwas, observed annually on September 14th, stands as a testament to India’s rich linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.

·         This day marks the adoption of Hindi as an official language of the Indian federal government, a decision made by the Constituent Assembly in 1949.

·         Article 343 (1) of the Constitution explicitly states that “the official language of the Union shall be Hindi in Devanagari script.
