1. 32ND ICAE IN NEW DELHI
·
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister(PM)
of India inaugurated the 32nd International Conference of
Agricultural Economists (ICAE 2024) at the National Agricultural Science
Centre (NASC) Complex in New Delhi
·
The triennial
conference is taking place in India
after 65 years.
·
India
previously hosted the conference in 1958
in Mysore (now Mysuru), Karnataka.
·
The theme of ICAE 2024 is “Transformation
Towards Sustainable Agri-Food Systems”.
·
ICAE
2024 is organised by the International
Association of Agricultural Economists(IAAE), Toronto(Ontario).
2. 4 APPS FOR 3 NEW CRIMINAL LAWS
·
Union Minister Amit Shah, Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) and
Ministry of Cooperation (MoC) has launched 4
Applications(Apps) namely, e-Sakshya, Nyaya Setu, Nyaya Shruti and e-Summon for
the 3 new criminal laws in Chandigarh.
·
These apps were developed by National Informatics Centre (NIC), New Delhi(Delhi).
·
The 3 new criminal laws – Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS),
Bharatiya Nyaya Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS)
and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA)
which came into effect on 1st July, 2024,
has repealed the British-era laws, the Indian
Penal Code (IPC), 1860; the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPc), 1973 and the Indian Evidence Act (IEA), 1872
respectively.

Chandigarh
will be the 1st administrative unit in the country,
where complete implementation of all 3 new criminal laws will be completed in
the next 2 months.

E-Sakshya app is a mobile based application which will enable
the police to save all videography,
photography and testimonies in a criminal case on a cloud-based e-evidence
server
·
Nyaya Shruti app will facilitate judicial
hearings through electronic medium like: video conferencing and on boarding of
documents
·
Nyaya Setu will provide a unified
legal interface for legal information, legal advice and legal assistance
and thus enable a more inclusive and just society.
·
E-summon app will facilitate delivery
of court summons electronically i.e. from the court to police station and
also to the person to whom summons is to be sent.
3. GERMANY JOINED UNC AS 18TH MEMBER
STATE
·
Federal Republic of Germany (FRG) officially
joined the United States of America (USA) led-United Nations Command (UNC) at Pyeongtaek, south of Seoul in
South Korea.
·
Germany became the 18th member
state of UNC, a group that helps police
the heavily fortified border with North Korea and has committed to defend
the South in the event of war.
·
This marks the 1st UNC expansion since Italy was reinstated in 2013.
·
The
member of the UNC includes USA, the
United Kingdom (UK), Australia, Netherlands, Canada, France, New Zealand,
Philippines, Türkiye, Thailand, South Africa, Greece, Belgium, Colombia;
Denmark; Norway; and Italy.
·
These countries provided combat troops and medical support during
the Korean War (1950-53).
·
UNC was established on 7th July, 1950, after UN recognised the aggression
of North Korea against South Korea.

4. INDIAN CLASSICAL
DANCER YAMINI KRISHNAMURTHY PASSED AWAY
·
Padma Awardee Mungara Yamini Krishnamurthy, a
renowned Indian Classical Dancer, has passed
away at the age of 83 in New Delhi
·
She was born on December 20, 1940 in
Madanapalle in Chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh (AP).
·
Government of India (GoI) honoured
Yamini with Padma Shri (1968), Padma Bhushan (2001)
and Padma Vibhushan (2016) for her contributions in
the field of arts.
·
Mungara Yamini
Krishnamurthy is a distinguished Indian classical dancer, and a doyen
of Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi and Odissi for
over four decades.
·
She
published an autobiography titled ‘A Passion for Dance’ with
Renuka Khandekar in 1995.
·
Yamini
Krishnamurthy received the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (Akademi Puraskar)
in 1977 for her contributions in Bharatanatyam.
·
She
was honoured with the ‘Natya Shastra Award’ by
the Shambhavi School of Dance at Nayika Excellence Personified on the occasion
of Women’s day 2014 (8 March 2014).
·
She
has also received the honour of being `Asthana Nartaki`
(Resident Dancer) of the temple of Shri Venkateswara at Tirupati, AP.
5. NEW PEACOCK SANCTUARIES
·
Union Minister Bhupender Yadav, Ministry
of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change (MoEF & CC), announced that the
central government has declared the Choolannuar in Kerala
and and Adichunchanagiri in Karnataka
as Peacock Sanctuaries.
·
Peacock or Indian peafowl (Pavo cristatus) is a
familiar and universally known large pheasant (any large,
colourful, and long-tailed bird of the family Phasianidae).
·
In 1963, the
peafowl was declared the national bird of India because
of its rich religious and legendary involvement in Indian traditions.
·
It is fully protected under the Indian Wildlife
Protection) Act, 1972.
·
The Adichunchanagiri Peacock Sanctuary in Karnataka was established in 1981 and
caters to a large peafowl (members of the pheasant family) population.
·
Other Peacock sanctuary in India is The peacock sanctuary located in Bankapur(Karnataka).It is engaged in
the conservation and breeding of peacocks.

ODISHA LAUNCHES INDIA’S FIRST ‘RICE ATM’
·
Odisha
has introduced India’s first round-the-clock grain dispensing machine, known as
the Annapurti Grain ATM, designed to
transform the Public Distribution System
(PDS) for ration cardholders.
·
This
innovative machine is located at a warehouse
in Mancheswar and developed in collaboration
with the World Food Programme.

MORE THAN 13.35 LAKH
INDIAN STUDENTS PURSUING HIGHER STUDIES ABROAD
·
The Ministry of External
Affairs in response to questions regarding students
who have embarked on their study abroad journey has revealed that
more than 13.35 lakh students are pursuing higher studies in
countries abroad.
·
Top Study Destinations is Canada:
427,000 students (slight decrease from 427,085 in 2023).
·
USA: 337,630 students.
·
UK: 18,500 students.
8. BIBHUTI BHUSAN NAYAK ELECTED AS
PRESIDENT OF ICMAI
·
Bibhuti Bhusan Nayak, a Certified Management Accountant
(CMA) has been elected as the 67th President of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) for
the 2024-2025 period.
·
TCA Srinivasa Prasad has
been elected as the Vice President (VP) of the ICMAI
for 2024-25.
·
The
ICMAI was set up as a statutory body on
28 May 1959 under the provisions of the Cost and Works Accountants Act,
1959, headquartered at Kolkata, West
Bengal (WB).

ITALY TOPS UNESCO WORLD
HERITAGE LIST WITH 60 RECOGNIZED SITES

Italy is at the top of the UNESCO World Heritage list with 60
sites, the latest being the "Via Appia Regina
Viarum" added during the 46th session of the World Heritage Committee in
New Delhi.
