CBI
AND EUROPOL SIGN WORKING ARRANGEMENT FOR COOPERATIVE RELATIONS
·
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and European Union Agency for Law Enforcement
Cooperation (Europol) signed a Working Arrangement for cooperative relations between the law enforcement authorities of
the Republic of India and the Europol to prevent and combat serious crime
and terrorism.
·
It establishes the clear mechanisms for
communication, cooperation, and collaboration, between the respective law
enforcement agencies.
·
It also enables cooperation between all law enforcement agencies in India and the 27 European countries represented by
Europol, as well as third countries and organizations associated with
Europol.

NAVY’S "OP SANKALP"
·
The Indian Navy completed 100 days of
maritime security operations “Operation
Sankalp”, which was launched on 14th December 2023.
·
As a part of the Op Sankalp, the Indian Navy played a major role as the First Responder and Preferred Security
Partner in the Indian Ocean Region(IOR).
·
Indian navy conducted security operations across 3 areas:
the Gulf of Aden and adjoining areas, the Arabian Sea, and off the East
Coast of Somalia.

CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton (175 billion).

overtakes Beijing(China) to become the billionaire capital of Asia.

CHANDRAYAAN-3’S
LANDING SITE NAMED AS ‘STATIO SHIV
SHAKTI’
·
International Astronomical Union (IAU)’s Working Group for
Planetary System Nomenclature (WGPSN) has approved the name “Statio Shiv Shakti” for the landing site of Chandrayaan-3’s Vikram
lander.
·
The term Shiv Shakti is derived from
Indian mythology describing the masculine (“Shiva”)
and feminine (“Shakti”) duality of nature.
·
On 23rd August 2023, the Vikram lander
of Chandrayaan-3, the 3rd mission in the
Chandrayaan programme, successfully soft landed near the moon’s south pole.
·
Narendra Modi, Prime Minister (PM) of
India announced that the landing site will be name “Shiv Shakti” and the 23rd August of every year will be observed as
National Space Day in India.
·
The crash site of Chandrayaan-2 on the
lunar surface was named ‘Tiranga Point’.

GETS AVIATION LAUREATE AWARD FOR CHANDRAYAAN-3

Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO) has been honoured with the Aviation Week Network’s 2023-2024 Laureates
Award under Space
category for its achievements in Chandrayaan-3.

Aviation Week Network’s 66th Laureate
Awards (2023-2024) ceremony was held on 14th March 2024 in National Building
Museum, Washington, D.C.,USA.
·
The Laureate Awards recognize the
extraordinary achievements of individuals and teams in the aviation industry.

FEEDER BEIRUT II 2024
·
India’s
SreejaAkula won the women’s singles title at the World Table Tennis (WTT) Feeder Beirut
II 2024 by defeating Sarah De Nutte (Luxembourg) in the finals.

India’s ManushUtpalbhai Shah(Gujarat) and ManavVikash Thakkar(Gujarat)
won the men’s doubles title by
defeating Indian duo Mudit Dani(Maharashtra) and Akash Pal(West Bengal) in the
all-Indian finals.

Akash
Pal and Poymantee Baisya(West Bengal) won the
mixed doubles title by defeating compatriots SathiyanGnanasekaran(Tamil Nadu) and
ManikaBatra(Delhi) in the finals. It marks their first WTT title.

Kong China’s Doo Hoi Kem and Zhu Chengzhu won the women’s doubles title by defeating

for almost 83% of the unemployed workforce in India.

According to the “Insurance 100 2024” report by Brand Finance, independent brand valuation and strategy
consultancy, India’s Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has emerged as
the world’s strongest insurance brand,
with brand value up 0.04% to USD 9.8
billion.

It has an Brand Strength Index (BSI) score of 88.3 and an associated AAA brand strength rating.
·
LIC
is followed by Taiwan based Cathay Life
Insurance and Australia based NRMA
Insurance as 2nd and 3rd strongest insurance brands respectively.
·
China’s Ping An continues its reign as the world’s most valuable insurance brand for 6 consecutive years,
showcasing a 4% increase in brand value to USD 33.6 billion.

FOR GREAT INDIAN BUSTARD PRESERVATION
·
The Supreme Court(SC) bench led by Dhananjaya Yeshwant (DY) Chandrachud, Chief
Justice of India (CJI), has
appointed a seven-member expert committee for the preservation of the
Critically Endangered Great Indian
Bustard(GIB).
·
This is in line with the efforts to
protect the GIB population from extinction caused by collision with power
cables in Gujarat and Rajasthan.

The Appointments Committee of the
Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of
Sadanand Vasant Date as
the Director General(DG) of the National Investigation Agency (NIA),PiyushAnand as DG of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF),Rajeev Kumar as DG of the Bureau of Police Research and
Development (BPR&D).
·
NIA, under the Ministry of Home Affairs,
is the central counter-terrorism agency of India. It was constituted under the
NIA Act,2008.

LAUNCHED SAKSHAM APP
·
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has launched a new app called ‘Saksham’ to facilitate easier voting for Persons
with Disabilities(PwDs).
·
This will also enable the PwDs to avail
facilities(like wheelchair) at the polling stations.
·
Saksham will offer customised services
to ensure easing voter identification
and registration process for PwDs.
·
This will offer Voice assistance(for
visually imparied); Text-to-speech(for hearing impaired).

Hour is annually observed across the world observed on
the last Saturday of March by
turning off the lights for 60 minutes as
a global symbol of unity and commitment towards protecting the planet and
preserving the environment.

Earth hour 2024 from 8.30 PM to 9.30 PM.
·
The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) (formerly World Wildlife Fund) and
partners first launched Earth Hour as a “lights off” movement in Australia in
2007.

World
Theatre Day is annually observed across the
globe on 27 March to
promote theatre in all its forms across the world. The Day highlights the
intrinsic value of theatre as an art form.

The 1st World Theatre Day was observed on 27 March 1962, the date of the opening
of the “Theatre of Nations” season
in Paris, France.
