GAME SIGNS MOU WITH NRLM TO ENABLE FINANCIAL ACCESS FOR WOMEN
ENTREPRENEURS
·
The
Global Alliance for Mass Entrepreneurship (GAME) signed a
Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with DAY-NRLM (Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana
-National Rural Livelihood Mission) to enable financial access for the growth
of 10 lakh women entrepreneurs over 3 years.
·
Under
the MoU, GAME and NRLM will strengthen non-farm livelihoods by building the
capacity of women entrepreneurs (WEs) to access finance and grow their
enterprises.
·
The
objective of this partnership is to identify and train ‘Vitta Sakhis’ from Self
Help Groups (SHGs) who can help WEs.
·
NRLM
was launched by the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), Government of India
in June 2011.
·
It
aims to alleviate rural poverty and create sustainable livelihood opportunities
for the rural poor.

WORLD GREEN CITY AWARDS 2022
·
The city
of Hyderabad, Telangana, has been honoured as the Grand winner of
the AIPH (International Association of Horticultural
Producers) World Green City Awards 2022, for its
initiative titled “Green Garland to the State of Telangana”.

Hyderabad also won the award under
the ‘Living Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth’ category.

LT GEN PS BHAGAT MEMORIAL CHAIR OF EXCELLENCE INSTITUTED
·
The
Indian Army formally instituted a ‘Chair of Excellence’ at
the United Service Institution of India (USI), New Delhi, Delhi in memory of Lt
Gen PS Bhagat, the first Indian officer to win the coveted Victoria
Cross during World War II and the first General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of
Northern Command.
·
The Chair will be open to Veterans of
three Services and civilians having expertise in the field of emerging defence
technologies.
·
Maj Gen SG Pitre (Retd)
was awarded with the inaugural Chair of Excellence to author a book on the “Legacy
of Lt Gen PremBhagat: A visionary and Strategic Leader”.

INS ARIHANT SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHES SUBMARINE LAUNCHED
BALLISTIC MISSILE

The Indian
Naval Ship (INS) Arihant, India’s first indigenous nuclear Ballistic
Missile Submarine (SSBN), successfully launched a nuclear
capable Submarine Launched Ballistic Missile (SLBM), affirming
India’s second strike nuclear capability.
·
The missile that was launched is
speculated to be the K-15 (also known as
Sagarika), a member of the “K” family of SLBMs.

MAA BHARATI KE SAPOOT- WEBSITE FOR FUNDING IN AFBCWF
·
The
Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD) launched the
‘Maa Bharati Ke Sapoot (MBKS)’ website which will enable
citizens to contribute to the Armed Forces Battle Casualties Welfare Fund
(AFBCWF), 2022.
·
Amitabh Bachchan will be
the Goodwill Ambassador for this
initiative.
·
AFBCWF is a tri-service fund, utilized
for grant of immediate financial assistance of ex-gratia, to the next of kin
and dependents of battle casualties.

36TH NATIONAL GAMES 2022
·
The
36th National Games were held After a gap of 7 years
·
These
were declared open by the Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi at
Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
·
This
was the first time the Games were held in the state.
·
Sports
that made their debut at National Games 2022 are Mallakhamba, Yogasana,
Skateboarding, Golf and Soft Tennis.
·
Pooja Patel of Gujarat has become the first athlete to win gold in
Yogasana in the traditional category.
·
The
first National Games were held in 1924 in Lahore – now in Pakistan. It was then
called the ‘All India Olympic Games’.
·
The
1948 edition in Lucknow was the 1st edition to be held in
independent India.
·
Goa
will host the 37th edition of the National Games in October next year.

10. INDIA’S
FIRST ALUMINIUM FREIGHT RAKE IN ODISHA
·
Union
Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw flagged
off 61- wagon aluminium rakes, 61 BOBRNALHSM1,
India’s first indigenously built Aluminium Freight
Rake at Bhubaneswar Railway Station, Odisha that will
carry coal for Hindalco’s Aditya Smelter in Lapanga, Odisha with Bilaspur,
Chhattisgarh as its destination.

They were built at Hindalco’s state-of-the-art
rolling facility in Hirakud, Odisha with fully Lockbolted
construction mechanism with no welding.
·
A single aluminium rake can reduce
14,500 tonnes of Carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions during its lifetime, with less
energy consumption and a greater carrying capacity.
·
The freight sector in India is expected
to grow at more than 7 percent Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) to 15-billion
tonnes by 2050.
11. PM NARENDRA MODI DEDICATES 75 DIGITAL
BANKING UNITS TO NATION
·
The
Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi dedicated 75 Digital Banking Units
(DBUs) across 75 districts to the nation via video conferencing
·
These
DBUs were also during the FY23 budget by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to
commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence.
·
Setting
up of DBUs is a joint initiative of the Central Government, the Reserve Bank of
India (RBI), the Indian Banks Association (IBA) and the participating Commercial
banks (other than regional rural banks, payment banks and local
area banks) with past digital banking experience are permitted to open DBUs in
tier 1 to tier 6 centres.
12. GLOBAL HUNGER INDEX 2022: INDIA
RANKED 107
·
The
15th Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2022 was released in which India
slipped 6 places to rank at 107th out of 121 countries with a
score of 29.1.
·
The
level of hunger in India is rated as ‘serious’.
·
GHI
is jointly published by European NGOs (Non Governmental Organizations) Concern
Worldwide and Welthungerhilfe.
·
South
Asia is the region with the world’s highest hunger level,
has the highest child stunting rate and highest child wasting rate in
the world.
·
In
Asia, Afghanistan with a rank of 109 is the only country behind India.
13. GLOBAL MULTIDIMENSIONAL POVERTY INDEX
2022
·
According
to theGlobal
Multidimensional Poverty Index 2022, which is titled “Unpacking Deprivation Packages to
Reduce Multidimensional Poverty”, 415 million people in India have been able to
liberate from poverty over a 15-year period between 2005–2006 and 2019–21,
which is a “historic change.”
·
The
report was released by the Oxford Poverty and Human Development Initiative
(OPHI) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) at the University of
Oxford.
·
Despite
the fact that child poverty decreased more quickly in absolute terms, there
were still 97 million poor children in
India in 2019–21 (or 21.8% of all children aged 0–17).
·
According
to data from the 2019–2021 Demographic and Health Survey,
an estimated 16.4% of Indians live in poverty, with an average level of 42 %.

14. TOYOTA INTRODUCES INDIA’S FIRST FLEX
FUEL-STRONG HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLE
·
Japanese
car maker Toyota’s unveiled first-of-its-kind pilot
project Flex Fuel-Strong Hybrid Electric Vehicle (FFV-SHEV) in India,
which can run on 100 % ethanol.
·
The Toyota Corolla Altis
FFV-SHEV, which was imported from Toyota Brazil for the pilot project,
was unveiled during the launch.
·
An FFV-SHEV has a flex-fuel engine and
an electric powertrain.
15. WOMEN’S ASIA CUP 2022
·
Indian
Women’s cricket team captained by Harmanpreet Kaur has won the Women’s
Twenty20 (T20) Asia Cup 2022 by 8 wickets defeating the Sri
Lanka in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
·
This marks India’s 7th
Asian Cup title. India has won 7 of 8 Asian Cups held so far.
·
In 2018 India lost the Asia Cup to
Bangladesh.

The participants of the ACC Women’s Asia
