GOI AMENDS FLAG CODE OF INDIA 2022 TO ALLOW TRI-COLOUR TO BE
FLOWN DAY AND NIGHT
·
The Ministry of Home
Affairs (MHA), Government of India (GoI), has amended the Flag Code of India
2002, to allow the tricolour to be displayed in open and on individual houses
or buildings throughout the day and night.
·
Previously, the Flag
could only be hoisted between sunrise and sunset.
·
The decision comes as
the GoI sets to launch the “Har Ghar Tiranga” (Flag hoisting in every
home) campaign from August 13-15, 2022, as part of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”
·
The Flag Code of India,
2002, and the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971, govern the
display, hoisting, and use of the Indian National Flag.

68TH NATIONAL FILM AWARDS 2022
·
The 68th National Film
Awards were announced at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, Delhi to
honour best films of 2020 of Indian Cinema. The event for the same was
organized by the Directorate of Film Festivals, which comes under the Ministry
of Information and Broadcasting (MIB).

Soorarai Pottru.

It also bagged
most number of awards i.e. 5.

The awards are
categorized into five. They are Dadasaheb Phalke Award (Lifetime Achievement
Award) ,Feature films , Non feature films ,Best writing on cinema ,and
Most film friendly state.

Dadasaheb Phalke Award
2020 will be announced later.
·
There were no awards
announced for ‘Best Animated Film 2020′ under Feature Films section and ‘Best
Film Critic 2020′ under Best Writing on Cinema section. Both categories
have been made eligible for Swarna Kamal.

IOA SIGNS MOU WITH GUJARAT GOVT AND STATE OLYMPIC BODY FOR
36TH NATIONAL GAMES 2022
·
Indian Olympic
Association (IOA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat
Government and the Gujarat Olympic Association (GOA) for the joint conduct of
the 36th National Games, Gujarat 2022.
·
A logo was also launched which depicts the Statue of Unity of
SardarVallabhbhai Patel and the Gir Asiatic Lion.
·
The tagline of the
event is “Celebrating Unity Through
Sports”.
·
28 states and eight
Union Territories (UTs) are set to participate in the 36th National Games,
Gujarat 2022 which seeks to promote the theme, ‘Sports for Unity’.
·
There will be a total
of 36 sports on the roster of the Games.

PALLAVI SINGH WINS THE MRS UNIVERSE DIVINE CROWN IN SOUTH
KOREA
·
India’s Pallavi Singh
has won the Mrs Universe Divine Title at the finals held at Yeosu City, South
Korea.
·
Contestants from 110
countries participated in the competition.
·
She won the title
of Mrs India held in Jaipur in 2020.
5.
WORLD BANK APPOINTS INDERMIT GILL AS CHIEF ECONOMIST
·
The World Bank
appointed Indian national Indermit Gill, as the Chief Economist of the World
Bank Group (WBG) and Senior Vice-President for development economics.
·
Inderjit Gill will be
the 2nd Indian, after KaushikBasu, to serve as the chief economist at the world
bank.
·
He is currently Vice
President for Equitable Growth, Finance, and Institutions (EFI) at the World
Bank Group(WBG).

18TH WORLD ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP OREGON 2022
·
The 18th edition
of World Athletics Championship (WCH) 2022 was held at the Hayward Field,
University of Oregon campus in Eugene, Oregon, United States (US).
·
It is for the first
time that the Championship was held in the US and for only the second time
in North America.
·
The mascot of WCH
Oregon22: Legend the Bigfoot.
·
US won the most gold
medals, with 13, and the most overall, with 33 (a record for a single edition).
·
India ranked at 33rd
place, and 4th best in Asia only behind China, Japan and Kazakhstan.
·
India’s Neeraj Chopra
won silver medal in the men’s javelin throw which reached at 88.13m.
·
This was the only medal
won by India at this Championship.

2022 FIH WOMEN’S HOCKEY WORLD CUP
·
The 2022 Women’s FIH
Hockey World Cup,the quadrennial world championship organised by the
International Hockey Federation (FIH) was held at Spain and Netherlands.
·
This marks the 15th
edition of Women’s FIH Hockey World Cup
·
The Netherlands
won the world championship for the 9th time
by defeating Argentina.
·
Australia has placed
third.
·

NOBEL PEACE PRIZE WINNERDAVID TRIMBLE PASSES AWAY
·
Nobel Peace Prize
winner and former Northern Irish first minister William David Trimble passed
away
·
He was the key
architect of the Good Friday Agreement (GFA) in 1998 which ended the 30 years
of disputes in Northern Ireland.
·
The ‘Good Friday Agreement’ (GFA) or
Belfast Agreement was signed on 10 April 1998 to end the sectarian violence in

KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS 2022- JULY 26
·
India annually
celebrates Kargil Vijay Diwas (Kargil Victory Day) on 26 July to commemorate
the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the Nation.
·
On July 26, 1999, the
Indian Army announced the successful culmination of “Operation Vijay” and declared victory after a nearly
three-month-long battle of Kargil in Ladakh.
·
The Operation was
fought by India against Pakistan in the Kargil sector of Jammu and Kashmir, now
Ladakh.
