1. SWACHH SURVEKSHAN 2021 AWARDS

For the 5th
consecutive year, Indore, Madhya Pradesh (MP), was awarded the
title of India’s Cleanest City under SS 2021.
·
Surat, Gujarat and Vijayawada, Andhra
Pradesh, bagged the 2nd and 3rd spots respectively in the ‘more than 1 lakh population’ category .
Vita, Lonavala, and Sasvad, cities
from Maharashtra bagged the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively in the
India’s cleanest cities under ‘less than
1 lakh population’ category.
In SS 2021, Maharashtra bagged the highest number of awards i.e. a total
of 92 awards.

Star rating
system: A total of 9 cities – Indore, Surat, New Delhi
Municipal Council, Navi Mumbai, Ambikapur, Mysuru, Noida, Vijayawada and Patan-
have been certified as 5 star cities
while 143 cities have been certified as 3 star.
2. ICC PERMANENT CEO

Geoff Allardice (Australia) has
been appointed as Permanent Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Cricket
Council (ICC).
·
Geoff Allardice has
replaced Manu Sawhney, who had resigned from his position in July
2021.
·
ICC expanded the
total participation teams in the T20 World Cup, from the
current 16 team format to 20 team format, for
2024, 2026, 2028 and 2030 editions.
3. BULGARIAN PRESIDENT RUMEN RADEV WINS

The President of
Bulgaria Rumen Radev (58) won a second term for 5 years in the presidential run-off
with 66% votes in his favor.

4. NEW PRIME MINISTER OF SUDAN
·
Abdalla Hamdok was reappointed as the Prime Minister
of Sudan .
·
Before becoming prime
minister, Hamdok worked for the U.N. Economic Commission for Africa, the
African Development Bank and as a special adviser at the Trade and Development
Bank in Ethiopia.

5. LEWIS HAMILTON WINS QATAR GRAND PRIX 2021

Mercedes driver Lewis
Hamilton (United Kingdom) won the inaugural edition of Qatar
Grand Prix 2021 that was organised at Losail International Circuit.

In September 2021,
Lewis Hamilton became the 1st Formula-One driver in the
history to reach 100 wins, after winning the Russian Grand Prix
(GP).
6. BOOK “RESOLVED: UNITING NATIONS IN A DIVIDED WORLD” BAN
KI-MOON

A book titled ‘Resolved:
Uniting Nations in a Divided World’ is an autobiography of
the Former United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Ban Ki-moon served as the 8th Secretary- General of
the United Nations for a two 5-year term (2007-2016).

7. WORLD FISHERIES DAY 2021 - 21ST NOVEMBER

The World Fisheries Day is annually celebrated across the
world on 21st November to

with the fishery trade across the globe.

8. WORLD TELEVISION DAY 2021 – NOVEMBER 21
·
United Nations(UN)’s World Television Day is annually
observed across the world on November 21st to recognise the
impact of television on decision making by highlighting the attention on
conflicts, threats to peace and security and its role in enhancing the focus on
major issues like economic and social issues.

BIENNIAL TRILATERAL
EXERCISE – ‘DOSTI’

15th edition of the Maldives, India, and Sri
Lanka biennial Trilateral Exercise ‘Dosti’ was conducted in Maldives .The
Exercise is conducted biennially among the Coast Guards of the 3 countries.
·
The exercise was
initiated in 1991, between the Indian & Maldivean Coast
Guards. Sri Lanka joined the exercise for the first time
in 2012.
10. DOORDARSHAN & AIR WON ABU-UNESCO T4P MEDIA AWARDS
2021

‘Living on the edge –
The coastal lives’ and DEAFinitely
Leading the Way produced by All India Radio(AIR) and Doordarshan respectively
have won the ABU – UNESCO Together for Peace (T4P) Media Awards 2021 held
at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia .

Living on the edge –
The coastal lives of AIR explore the life of the fishermen community living in
Visakhapatnam.
·
DEAFinitely Leading
the Way of Doordarshan is a program on the journey of a specially-abled child
which aims to motivate the specially-abled persons to live their life with
dignity.
11. 49TH INTERNATIONAL EMMY
·
The International
Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced the winners of the 49th
International Emmy Awards (2021) over the event organised at
the Great Hall of Casa Cipriani in New York City, United States of America(USA).
·
The Israeli thriller
“Tehran” produced by the Kan public broadcaster has won the
International Emmy Award 2021 for Drama Series.
·
Hayley Squires (UK) won the International Emmy award 2021 for Best
Performance by an Actress for her role as British porn star Jolene Dollar in
Adult Material.
·
David Tennant(UK) won the Best Performance by an Actor for
portraying serial killer Dennis Nilsen in Des.

HONOURED WITH KNIGHTHOOD OF PARTE GUELFA IN FLORENCE, ITALY
·
Keralite Dr S K Sohan
Roy, the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) and founder of Aries Group of Companies
has become the first Indian to
be honoured with the Knighthood
of Parte Guelfa for his humanitarian and Environmental protection
efforts in business and movies.
·
The Guelph part is
concerned with environmental protection and the knighthood is recognised as the
protector of the World Environment.

FOR PEACE, DISARMAMENT AND DEVELOPMENT 2021

Indira Gandhi Prize
for Peace, Disarmament and Development 2021 is awarded to Pratham, a civil society organization (CSO) which is dedicated
to improving the quality of education among underprivileged children in India and across the world.
·
The award is given
to individuals or organisations who work
towards ensuring international peace and development and creating new
international economic order.
14. NICOLAE CIUCA IS NEW PM OF ROMANIA
·
The President of
Romania, Klaus Iohannis nominated former army general Nicolae
Ciuca as the new Prime Minister (PM) of the country.
