1.NATIONAL STEERING COMMITTEE TO DEVELOP CURRICULUM FRAMEWORKS

      The Ministry of Education (MoE) has formulated a 12-member National Steering Committee (SC) for the development of National Curriculum Frameworks in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

      It will be chaired by Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan, an scientist who headed the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) from 1994 to 2003.

      The tenure of the SC will be of 3 years w.e.f .September 21, 2021.

      The SC will be assisted by the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) Director Prof. Sridhar Srivastava (Current).

 

2.KOVALAM, EDEN BEACHES GET BLUE FLAG TAG

      Two more new Indian beaches– Kovalam in Tamil Nadu and Eden in Puducherry received Blue Flag Certification from Foundation for Environment Education in Denmark (FEE) in 2021.

      With this ,India received a Blue tag for 10 beaches.

      It is issued by Foundation for Environment Education in Denmark (FEE) and international jury comprising of members from IUCN, UNWTO, UNEP and UNESCO etc.

 

3.INDIA’S 1ST CO2 CAPTURE AND UTILISATION PLANT IN JAMSHEDPUR

      The Indian Multinational Company, Tata Steel Limited becomes India’s first steel company to commission a 5 tonnes per day (TPD) Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) plant at its Jamshedpur (Jharkhand) Works with the technological support from Carbon Clean.

      Carbon Clean is a global leader in low-cost Carbon dioxide (CO2) capture technology.

 

4.IRAN BECAME THE 9TH FULL MEMBER OF SCO

      Iran was appointed as the 9th permanent member state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) at the 21st Meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of State in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

      Prior to getting the permanent membership of SCO, Iran was one of the Observer member states of SCO. Iran received observer status in 2005.

 

5.JUSTIN TRUDEAU WON A 3RD TERM AS PM OF CANADA

      Canadian Prime Minister(PM) Justin Trudeau, leader of the Liberal party since 2013, won 3rd term as the PM of Canada by winning the 2021 Canadian federal election but failed to secure the absolute majority.

      The Liberal party won the election with 158 seats of the 170 needed for a majority in the House of Commons.

      17 Indian origin Canadians including New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh and Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan have won the election.

 

6.SDG PROGRESS AWARD

      Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has been conferred with ‘SDG Progress Award’, for Bangladesh’s steady progress in achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs), by the UN sponsored Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) at the 9th Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development held in New York in September 2021.

 

7.NEW CHIEF OF AIR STAFF

      The Air Marshal, Vivek Ram (VR) Chaudhari has been appointed as the Chief  of the Indian Air Force (IAF).

      He will  succeed  the current Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rakesh Kumar Singh (RKS)  Bhadauria, who will retire on September 30, 2021.

 

8.ISRO TO DEVELOP REUSABLE GSLV MK-III LAUNCH VEHICLE

      The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is working on the development of a technology which will enable ISRO to land the GSLV Mk III launch vehicles vertically.

      This will allow ISRO to reuse the GSLV Mk III launch vehicles and save money.

 

9.BOOK ON SIKH YOUTH OF INDIA

      Defence Minister Rajnath Singh released a book titled ‘Shining Sikh Youth of India’, in New Delhi, authored by Dr Prabhleen Singh, as part of the commemoration of the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur, the 9th Guru of Sikhs.

      The book covers 100 inspirational and motivational success stories of Sikh youth in India of their exemplary work in their respective fields.

 

10.WORLD CAR FREE DAY 2021 – SEPTEMBER 22

      World Car Free Day is annually observed across the globe on September 22 to encourage motorists across the globe to give up on their vehicles for a day and experience streets free of motor traffic.

 

11. WORLD ROSE DAY 2021 – SEPTEMBER 22

      World Rose Day is annually observed across the globe on September 22 to honour and provide hope for the people who are suffering from cancer. The day also aims to create awareness about early identification and prevention of cancer, which can save much Malignancy.

 

12.WORLD RHINO DAY 2021 – SEPTEMBER 22

      World Rhino Day is annually observed across the globe on September 22 to create awareness about all five species of rhino and recognise the efforts taken towards the conservation of rhinos.

      The theme of World Rhino Day 2021 is “Keep the Five Alive”.

 

13.PRADHAN MANTRI JAN AROGYA YOJANA COMPLETES 3 YEARS

      Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PM-JAY) has completed 3 years.

      In order to celebrate the 3 years’ completion, National Health Authority (NHA) has organised a 4 days hybrid (virtual & physical) event, Arogya Manthan 3.0.

 

14.WMO REPORT ‘UNITED IN SCIENCE 2021’

      The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) released a report on the latest climate science information named ‘United in Science 2021’.

      As per the report, the COVID-19 caused only a temporary decline in carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in 2020.

      Sea level rise: Global mean sea levels rose 20 cm from 1900 to 2018 and at an accelerated rate of 3.7+0.5 mm/year from 2006 to 2018.

 

15.INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SIGN LANGUAGES 2021 – SEPTEMBER 23

      The United Nations(UN)’s International Day of Sign Languages(IDSL) is annually observed across the globe on September 23rd to create awareness about the importance of sign language in the full realization of the human rights of people who are deaf.

      The theme of International Day of Sign Languages 2021, declared by WFD, is “We Sign For Human Rights”.
