1.      42ND INTERNATIONAL CONGRESS OF MILITARY MEDICINE BEGINS
i. The 42nd World Congress of the International Committee of Military Medicine organised by the Armed Forces Medical Services under the aegis of the Ministry of Defence began in New Delhi.
ii. The five-day event is being organised for the first time in India, and is the largest medical conference ever organised by the AFMS. The theme of this 42nd World Congress is “Military Medicine in Transition: Looking Ahead.”

2.      ASSAM CM SARBANANDA SONOWAL INAUGURATES NAMAMI BARAK FESTIVAL
i. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal inaugurated the Namami Barak festival at Silchar, Assam.
ii. Sarbananda Sonowal said that, the Namami Barak is organised to revive humanistic values, to discover resources and possibilities of the land. Also a new train connecting Silchar Dibrugarh – Trivandrum was flagged off. Sonowal added that Dibrugarh and Silchar direct air connectivity has also started.
iii. He requested Minister of State for Railways, Rajen Gohain to start a new train from Saurashtra to Dibrugarh and Silchar. He said that construction of the mini secretariat at Silchar would start soon and Vivekananda Cultural and Research Institute is also going to be set up in Silchar.


3.      NRIS, PIOS DON’T NEED TO LINK BANK A/C, PAN WITH AADHAAR: UIDAI
i. Unique Identification Authority of India has stated that Non-resident Indian and Persons of Indian Origin  are not required to link bank accounts and other services with Aadhaar.
ii. UIDAI had to come up with this clarification as it received several representations about problems faced by Non Resident Indians, Person of Indian Origin and Overseas Citizens of India, where some Departments and implementing agencies were asking them to submit or link their Aadhaar for availing services.
iii. However, implementing agencies have been instructed by UIDAI to set up a mechanism through which genuineness of status of such NRIs/PIOs/OCIs can be ascertained.

4.      QATAR, THE RICHEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD PER CAPITA
i. Based on the per capita income of its people, Qatar has been named the world's richest country as per the recent International Monetary Fund report. The per capita GDP (gross domestic product) of Qatar is over Rs. 81 lakh.
ii. With per capita GDP of over Rs. 38 lakh, the United States is at No. 12. India, with a GDP of over Rs. 4 lakh per person, is not even in the top 100.
iii. Top 3 Countries in the list are- Qatar- GDP of Rs. 81 lakh per person, Luxembourg- GDP of Rs. 70 lakh per person and Singapore- GDP of Rs. 60 lakh per person.

5.      WOMEN'S YOUTH WORLD BOXING CH'SHIP BEGINS IN GUWAHATI
i. Women's Youth World Boxing Championship begins in Guwahati, Assam. Three young boxers will lock horn in the preliminaries. In 54 kilogram category, Shashi Chopra will play in 60 kg category, Mizoram's Vanlalhriapuii will bout against Korean player and Astha Pahwa will take on opponent from Bulgaria in 69 kg.
ii. Assam Chief Minister Sarbanand Sonowal has inaugurated the event. The finals will be held on November 26.

6.      SRI LANKAN AUTHOR ANUK ARUDPRAGASAM BAGS 2017 DSC PRIZE FOR SOUTH ASIAN LITERATURE
i. Sri Lankan author Anuk Arudpragasam’s “The Story of a Brief Marriage” has bagged the $25,000 DSC Prize for South Asian Literature 2017.
ii. Bangladesh Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith presented the award to Arudpragasam at the magnificent Bangla Academy in Dhaka during the closing ceremony of the 3-day long Dhaka Literature Festival on 18th November 2017.
iii. Arudpragasam announced that, he would donate one-third of the prize money ($25,000) to the organisations working in northeast Sri Lanka, to the cause of Rohingya Muslims and to those providing aid to Muslims in Kashmir.
iv.“The Story of a Brief Marriage” is a touching tale of a young man trapped on the frontlines between the Sri Lankan Army and the Tamil Tigers.

7.      GRIGOR DIMITROV BEATS DAVID GOFFIN TO LIFT ATP FINALS TITLE
i. Grigor Dimitrov has won the ATP Finals Title in London, UK. The sixth-seeded Bulgarian claimed the title at the season-ending ATP Finals to beat David Goffin 7-5, 4-6, 6-3 in the final.
ii. Dimitrov claimed his first Masters title in Cincinnati in August, and having risen to a career-high No. 3-ranking with victory in London.

8.      AFGHANISTAN WINS MAIDEN UNDER-19 ASIA CUP
i. Afghanistan stunned favourites Pakistan by a massive 185 runs to clinch their maiden Under-19 Asia Cup title, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
ii. Ikram Ali khil was the man of the match against Pakistan U19 in the ACC U19 Youth Asia Cup Final for his 107 not out and Mujeeb Zadran was the man of series for his 20 wickets in the tournament.
9.      FORMER WIMBLEDON CHAMPION JANA NOVOTNA PASSES AWAY
i. Czech tennis player Jana Novotna, a Wimbledon champion in 1998 and 16-time Grand Slam winner in doubles and mixed doubles, has died at the age of 49 after a long battle with cancer.
ii. Novotna entered the tennis Hall of Fame in 2005. Novotna was a three-time Olympic medalist and a member of Czechoslovakia's 1988 Fed Cup championship team.
